But what I am saying is a shadow memory from something I read about Ike that I remember as sound, but cannot remember the details? And my mother was very sharp about politics at the time and she despised Ike and the pubs. It was right wing bunk in the 60's. I remember the debate about the Viet Nam war well. I was on the front lines of that fight from day one. By that time I had figured out the crazy right wing. I was a kid in the 50's and knew nothing about anything. I really lived in an ignorant man's fantasy world until I was about 23. But once I got on to reality (when I entered the counter culture) I followed it like a blood hound.
