Thank you for the suggestion.

That was exactly one plan I have decided to use on many of the investments. It's too late now on so many! Do you use a straight 10% or another formula? And, if you had losses of over 50% would you institute a new stop now, or wait? Part of my new plan is to wait till Jan to sell some of these big losses because so many stocks may recover in Jan (with the end of the tax selling).

Mr. Heiber,
I am a new comer to investing and have several different stocks and use E-Trade for my account. Please tell me how to use "stops" to protect my investments. I understand that somehow I set a price at which the stock will be automatically sold but don't know how to set it up.
