The CFO for cpq released that statement as public news on dec 5th I think.
cpq always raises inventory this time of yr.
you miss sales if it's not there.
the redcution in dealers 4000-5000 dealers down to 400..
will drop inventory a bunch.
this is the strategy cpq had from 1983 to about 1988.
cpq never commtitted to two weeks of inventory til next yr.
when you put a new system in you always have extra inventory then start dropping it and work the problems that show up...
you don't just drop inventory to 2 weeks and put the system in...
that is asking for lost sales.
