You'll never see a viable candidate that isn't aligned with big money. Our law states that money = speech and that corporations have the rights of people. With those two things in place, a viable anti-establishment candidate will never be heard by enough people, will never get the traction needed to win a national campaign.

The best hope we have is to try to hold the presidency so that Supremes can be installed that will reverse those policies.

Jesse Ventura isn't running for anything, and even if he was, would go nowhere:

He's not our saviour.

I agree with you on many things but not the Flat Tax, No way Jose in a million years on that one Steve. I say bring them back up at least to the first Reagan tax cut for those at the top.

there you go, thanks for the sanity... I see even some liberals and progressives claiming to be for a flat tax... well they can't be very progressive or liberal on that issue, and it's a huge one

with the disparity of wealth continuing to climb, the flat tax, no matter which plan you speak of, would benefit the already ridiculously wealthy and hurt all those at the bottom percentage scale...

Disparity of wealth is at all time highs, and income taxes at all time lows

How can anyone want to increase this disparity is beyond my comprehension, if they claim to be for fair taxation

<<<< I agree with you on many things but not the Flat Tax >>>>

Thanks for comments John. yes of course it would be great to go back to the rates for the rich during Reagans time, but it just isn't going to happen. It's just not! So instead of wishing for the impossible, why not try something else? You know here in washington state we have no state income tax - none! We do have a sales tax and our economy is smoking! The big debate in Seattle now is to raise the minimum wage to 15 bucks!!! Holy crap, does that make Obama's efforts look tiny or what. It works John. If you're rich and want to buy a huge yacht or house you pay big bucks. If you're poor and rent and only pay for groceries and medicine (both exempt) you pay almost no tax. ........You don't pay sales tax on Boeing airplanes though. .........Besides it isn't really a flat tax as many try to portray since the first 40K or whatever they want is tax exempt. So even if you earn 50K, your tax isn't much compared to say Buffets. PLUS, you need to include All income - so income from investments or capital gains need to be included.

The simple fact is that today there are so many exemptions in the tax code that the ones paying the most are wage earners - middle income wage earners. Those that can't afford attorneys to figure out how NOT TO PAY TAXES. Anyone who thinks this is going to change anytime soon given the congress we have is just not looking at this pragmatically.
