Do you think chemicals "die" too, I think you are lost in some sort of semantic trap of your own making. We are all chemicals. Chemical arrangements can be simple or they can be very complex. Current life is very complex, the beginnings of life were simple. It's hard to compare the two states without using some of the same words even though they are usually used to describe one level of complexity or the other.

Do you think somebody decided to put your sperm there and kill all the others because He thought YOU were going to be such a bright light on SI!!!! Of all those infinite sperms and eggs, do you think that YOU were the best choice?
