I buy rental homes in FL not far from the nice one in Tarpon Springs that Road Walker is looking at in the prior post.. That nice 4700 mansion might be worth what $5-10M in the Bay Area in a comparable area?

Prices for rentals I buy far below even Rockford for my 'shacks' in solid working class hoods that are maybe a step below Silly Valley starter $650-750k ranches in layout, average temps this week are 76/58 the envy of most of the country also is a short drive to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Plus two international airports within a half hour drive and lots of jobs though pay is low compared to SF of course.

Sorry i ranted but it astounds me here six years post the greatest financial collapse since the great depression we are making the same mistake as a society yet again with leading edge CA at the forefront of course. . Personally I have been to CA ten times spent lots of time all over. Yes there is no place like CA, especially the Bay Area. You might envy the folks in the Bay Area these days trying to make a go of it but I do not. Sorry but I hate what debt slavery, overconsumptive lifestyles keeping up with the Jones, very high cost of living your dollar worth little does to a society...Talk about blood pressure boiling after a couple decades of that rat race........... I've been to Rockford too.. 80 miles from what might be our greatest American city plus some of our most grounded down to earth people live that way is something to cheer about and preserve..
