"He sets us free from our hateful evil selves"

You're hateful and evil? Jews or Mormons or Jains or other non-Christians are hateful and evil? So was God a bad parent?? Do hateful and evil children come from good parents...100%of the time?? Just wondering because you do seem pretty smart.

in a new Passover..... Starting with the old passover the Book of Numbers 1:46 says 603,550 men and this not including women children, one has even a hard time imagining these numbers of people today getting together for a single purpose, let alone then. Just on a practical note, a column of this many people marching ten abreast, would have formed a line 150miles long, almost from Egypt to Canaan.

There are not any burial sites/cemeteries along the so-called Exodus route ever been found, apparently nobody died during the long march to Canaan, miraculous for those times. Meanwhile, there is not any archaeological evidence of such a mass migration or of a huge influx of people into Canaan. Plus abolutely no evidence of Egyptian words/art/culture or architecture in Canaan, which is a huge discrepancy, this just does not happen.

The mention of the use of camels in Exodus 9:3 also suggests a far later date of composition, for we know the widespread domestication of the camel as a herd animal did not take place before the late 2nd millennium, after the Israelites had already emerged in Canaan, this "old testament" was written by scribes probably around 3-5th century, all mostly fiction.

He sets us free from our hateful evil selves. He desires of us mercy, charity, and a love of justice.... That's a little harsh considering such ideas were found being birthed in men's minds & expressed so eloquently, lets give some credit wher its due. Seems there is hope for us all yet, just that we had seen taken in to our lexicon & given usage to such terms & ideas as: compassion, mercy, charity, and a love of justice.

This is an evolution thread and as such always the desire to know the origins, not just species, but thoughts & ideas as well. You are fully aware i'm hoping, that what you call the "ten commandments" originated in Egypt 4,000yrs ago?

There were originally 42 "principals of Ma'at", the Goddess who personified the ideals of Truth and Righteousness, were known to all the ancient Egyptians. So apparently this huge body of 1.5mil fictional Hebrew slaves, managed to only remember 10 on their way back to milk & honey.

This is where your Ten Commandments sourced from,2000yrs earlier in Egypt,
lets give credit where credit is due:
en.wikipedia.org

"42 Principles of Ma'at 2000 years before Ten Commandments"

I have not done iniquity.
I have not robbed with violence.
I have not stolen.
I have not made any to suffer pain.
I have not defrauded offerings.
I have done no murder nor bid anyone to slay on my behalf.
I have not trimmed the measure.
I have not spoken lies I have not robbed God.
I have not caused the shedding of tears.
I have not dealt deceitfully.
I have not acted guilefully.
I have not laid waste to the land.
I have not set my lips against anyone.
I have not been angry or wrathful without a just cause.
I have not lusted nor defiled the wife of any man.
I have not polluted myself.
I have not caused terror.
I have not done that which is abominable.
I have not multiplied words exceedingly.
I have never uttered fiery words.
I have not judged hastily.
I have not transgressed nor have I vexed or angered God.
I have not stopped my ears against the words of Right and Truth .
I have not burned with rage.
I have not worked grief.
I have not acted with insolence.
I have not avenged myself.
I have not stirred up strife.
I have not been an eavesdropper.
I have not wronged the people
I have done no harm nor have I done evil
I have not worked treason.
I have never fouled the water.
I have not spoken scornfully.
I have never cursed God.
I have not behaved with arrogance.
I have not envied or craved for that which belongs to another.
I have not filched food from the mouth of the infant.
I have done no hurt unto man, nor wrought harm unto beasts.
I have never magnified my condition beyond what was fitting.

Here is a different translation showing how they correlate with the 10 commandments. [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moses]Moses
, if he existed, (there is no undisputed historical/archaeological evidence that he did), was an Egyptian. According to stories, he was adopted by an Egyptian royal family. If that were true he would have been familiar with these principles. If there was no historical Moses, then others most likely borrowed a few if the Principles of Maat when composing the Ten Commandments.

THE 42 COMMANDMENTS OF ANCIENT EGYPT
I. Thou shalt not kill, nor bid anyone kill.
II. Thou shalt not commit adultery or rape.
III.Thou shalt not avenge thyself nor burn with rage.
IV.Thou shalt not cause terror.
V.Thou shalt not assault anyone nor cause anyone pain.

XVI.Thou shalt not use fiery words nor stir up any strife.

With all due respect, this is how every religion & belief in the supernatural always gets started from the beginning of time, bar none.

Shear desperation for cures from everpresent disease with the witch-doctor/magician/holyman, prophets to bring rain (or stop the rains) and the divine "warrior/hero/king/messiah" sent by God to protect the tribe/nation from its everpresent enemies.

His Cross and Resurrection He sets us free from our hateful evil selves .....Since we've already covered the pure invention of mythical Moses & Hebrews ever being enslaved building pyramids or leaving Egypt en masse. What we do see clearly are the Ten Commandments all originating in that great river civilization and passed on culturally. One doesn't even need to be reminded of the long history & accomplishments of that great civilization.

Myths of Faith Healers and Sun Gods (from the dawn of time)

Christianity was an amalgamation of various ancient mythologies, "Jesus" was a totally mythical character, an extended allegory grounded in solar myths, compiled organically when simple allegorical statements were misunderstood as "history" exactly as in the case of Moses. Nothing more evident than Christianity originating as Jewish gnostic cult that spread by appropriating aspects of Greek Philosphy and those very well known "life-death-rebirth sons-of god".

It is clear whether accurate or not as to biographical details, this latest manifestation of this fresher Jewish version of the "risen Christ" figure, we know there have been many such hero stories ocurring in cycles & similar moving legends out from previous human cultures. Like before perhaps this new version was fit to bring a new warmth, immediacy, and humanity, tying in with the old motifs of the beloved Tammuz, Adonis or Osirus cycles from before.

*This is an evolution thread, if you dare to tread then be prepared to know your true origins, but only given to you warmly, the air that you breath now is just as sweet, what is called a rose by any other name, is still marvelous & inspiring in its intrinsic beauty. If you are sincere, genuinely caring & not a complete fool, by all means carry on.

As for raising people from the dead and Christianity originating as Jewish gnostic messiah cult that spread by taking aspects of Greek Philosphy combined by those already "life-death-rebirth sons-of god" motifs, one very well known was --> Asclepius.
en.wikipedia.org

This was one of the most popular cults in the Mediterranean around 300BC and the Temples reknowned, Asclepius was half mortal & also offspring of the God of Sun Apollo, was so adept at healing that he raised the dead.

Later killed by Hera then ressurrected by God the Father "Zeus" & given immortality. One can only see the similarity, Judae was a Greek occupied colony for over almost 2centuries and continued to be heavily influenced by Hellen culture.

As well as being the son-of-god (Apollo/Sun) his daughters were:

Hygieia ("Hygiene", the goddess/personification of health, cleanliness, and sanitation), Iaso (the goddess of recuperation from illness), Aceso (the goddess of the healing process), Aglæa/Ægle (the goddess of beauty, splendor, glory, magnificence, and adornment), and Panacea (the goddess of universal remedy). He was associated with the Roman/Etruscan god Vediovis. He was one of Apollo's sons, sharing with Apollo the epithet Paean ("the Healer"). [1] The rod of Asclepius, a snake-entwined staff, remains a symbol of medicine today. Those physicians and attendants who served this god were known as the Therapeutae of Asclepius.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.

These poor Hebrew scribes were so confused, making it up as they went as fast as they could, trying so hard to compete, for we know there were no Hebrews ever in any Pharoah's court. These stories in the OT including Solomon & David were all made probably as late as the 3rd century to rejuvenate tribal unity & faith. But this is probably where your rods of snakes came from. Hebrew history doesn't even get started in earnest till around 600bc, let alone a "Moses" in Egypt 1400bc. (quite laughable)

(the Hebrews were still worshipping female dieties along with everyone else)

The resurrected son-of-god Asclepius , God of medicine, healing, rejuvenation and physicians, note the serpent entwined staff, that still remains the universal symbol for medicine, healing & Rx.

He desires of us mercy, charity...... Aside the Greek concept of "Agape" later fully appropriated in Christian theology as "love of God" or unconditional love (directly from the Greek)
en.wikipedia.org

One of Asclepius's daughters was called Aglaea/Aglaïa , part of the "Three Charites" the goddess of beauty, splendor, glory, magnificence and adornment. She and her sisters attended Aphrodite, and Aglaea sometimes acted as messenger for the goddess of love.

Are we learning yet?

The lessor developed Hebrews were begging, borrowing, paraphrasing & stealing as fast as they could when they made up the stories in the OT around the 3rd century, this is your source religion & theology, even a freshmen intellect could see this, absolutely gorgeous imaginations.

So, perhaps you might become a true Christian/ Olympian someday?

Just find Agape & Charity in your heart, all originally Greek ideals & Greek terms including "Christos".

Truely magnificent imaginations....

So to conclude again, nothing is more evident than Christianity originating as Jewish gnostic cult that spread by appropriating aspects of Greek Philosphy and those very well known "life-death-rebirth sons-of god". Christianity was an amalgamation of various ancient mythologies, "Jesus" was a totally mythical character, an extended allegory grounded in solar myths, compiled organically when simple allegorical statements were misunderstood as "history" exactly as in the case of the scribed in mythic Moses.

(where are any early archaeological statues, reliefs depicting Moses? There are none for the story was invented way late 300bc)

It is clear whether accurate or not as to biographical details, this latest manifestation of that gnostic Jewish cult version of the Greek "risen Christos " figure, we know there have been many such hero/messiah stories ocurring in cycles & similar moving legends out from previous human cultures. Like before perhaps this new version was fit to bring a new warmth, immediacy, and humanity, tying in with the old motifs of the beloved Tammuz, Adonis or Osirus cycles from before.

Where did your religion come from? Gaze on the maginificence of a culture that once tried & succeded in uniting the entire known world, they were the Hellenes, we still to this day enjoy the fruit of their thought, including unconditional love/agape of "LIFE". (you may call it "God" if you like)
