Would a civilization based on pagan Greco-Roman beliefs, and untouched by Christianity, continue to entertain the masses with public battles to the death?
Millions of people watch and tens of thousands of kids train for a sport as brutal as the coliseum.

Would public officials still be sacrificing bulls to Jupiter in publicly supported temples?
As long as Christian groups get tax breaks every church luncheon and potluck is being publicly supported.
Would we still be abandoning infants, in addition to aborting them?
More babies have been aborted in the USA than were born in ancient Greece...

"In 2011, approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in the U.S., down from an estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008, 1.29 million in 2002, 1.31 million in 2000 and 1.36 million in 1996. From 1973 through 2011, nearly 53 million legal abortions have occurred in the U.S. (AGI)."

Well nothing we see has seemed to stop human being's nature from recreating public games, next time you take a trip to the "big city", check out one of the large sports arenas. Oh, we just finished the winter Olympic games recently another representation?( should be noted generally fighting to the death is frowned on).

And absolutely, yes, you are living in that extension of those civilizations right now, just check out your local seats of gov't & their architecture. Once men found their way out of that dark , oppressive millieu & back to the light again.Open public debate, freedom of inquiry in all areas (including religion & cults), a practicing republic, universities, Sciences,Arts libraries for organizing & preservation of knowledge ( on & on)

It is in man's nature to be inquisitive,to explore the the sum total of the height, breadth, length & depth of the world (and now off world) you'll note i did not say "spirit of inquiry", the word nature works just fine, in fact is the far better word, for it is what we are when not stuck living in your maudlin, phony, archaic fantasy world.

Would public officials still be sacrificing bulls to Jupiter in publicly supported temples? ..... Generally now we witness life & death scurillous battles in the public arena, public officials (and war camp followers & prostitutes ) very much engaged in the practice of throwing each other under moving busses.

The chariots have been replaced, the effect now is still similar, et tu brumius?

* One notes sacrificing animal blood was approximately equal with Hebrew to Pagan, proportionate to population, the Judaic ritual need for this probably outdid Rome's. There was a guttter 3ft wide to channel away the animal blood from the Jersusalem temple, it was a virtual slaughter house for centuries but lets not get into real gorey details. Just humans being humans, it was their way to attempt to think they could influence & control nature, appease themselves, no god or gods involved.

Without the ancient messiah afterlife cult you adhere & its "missionaries" ?

Absolutely.

Generally in every case when looking back on the history of Christian proselytizing, the numbers of infanticide for indigenous people (& the people themselves) were horifically large, setting new world records. Once they were culled down to manageable numbers after millions dying by violence or disease, they in effect became their slaves again.

There are some cases of good work being done, most were inept fools, those that were spectacularly effective most assuredly as the day you were born a crying mewling infant---> Liberals.
