Hi Eric! Novell has enough of the basics ready now.

>Hi BP: Novell better not be late to this party as the JAVA VM for the enterprise (IMO) will be the next large growth opportunity ....<

I think that Novell (and Oracle on Novell's coattails) is the only company that actually is ready to make sales now.

They did have most of the development work done sometime in August. There is one important piece that impacts Java performance which was shared work done with Intel. I haven't seen the results of that work surface yet, and suspect that MSFT was able to interfere and cause trouble for Novell.

The recent DOJ success in court Vs MSFT will probably help revitalize that effort.

I'm pretty sure that it was 'announceable' in September ... remember the announcement that Eric cancelled at the last minute, I think that was it. There was probably some political trouble between Intel and MSFT that got in the way ... left Novell with an unreliable relationship with Intel, and probably forced them to do at least some of the work all by themselves.
