You and I are the quintessential liberal and conservative. I do not understand you, and you do not understand me. That is really the big question here. I know you are smart. What puzzles me is how you can't see your blind spots. You want to use Friedman. I of course would counter with Krugman. All that devolves into is an argument over who is right. I would rather debate you on a different ground. And am very curious how you will respond. Why don't we look at conservatives and scientists in general. large populations which statistics can make predictions about. Why is it that 51% of scientist's call themselves liberals and 80% lean democratic and only 6% call themselves Republicans? Puts me in pretty good company. How come with all of your brains you cannot see what that statistic is saying? I am serious! I majored in psychology to answer that one question as I saw it 50 years ago and it made no sense to me i.e. how can people with brains (like you) be so blind? Also are you unaware that conservative's by and large do not even believe in evolution (do you know how uneducated one has to be to think that?) , let alone global warming? Same thing. 97% of qualified climatologists believe in manmade global warming. Yet that statistic doesn't phase the right wing. Because they do not understand probability. If you play poker and play hands that you only have a 3% chance of winning you will be broke pretty quickly. PS I was a trader for 30 years and studied economics in college. Friedman has pretty will been discredited i.e. supply side economics. His social policies are nuts.
