The SEC is worthless. See: Brooksley Borne.

The markets have, at least from the 60 Minutes piece, decided what needs to be done about it and started to take corrective action.

SEC is a bloated bureaucracy that is just as dysfunctional as the markets it purports to regulate.

This problem has cost me at most a few bucks and I've been trading securities since I was a teenager. The people who are affected have big money and they won't tolerate it now that it has been disclosed.

It was a pretty slick game, though. Someone watched the movie "The Sting", I suppose.
