Pollster Rasmussen: Obamacare Mandate 'Will Never Be Enforced' Monday, 31 Mar 2014 10:47 AM By Wanda Carruthers Obamacare's mandate to purchase healthcare insurance "will never be enforced" because of the law's unpopularity, public opinion pollster Scott Rasmussen predicted. "Every time somebody complains, they give another exemption," Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Media Group, told "Fox & Friends" on Monday. "The mandate will never be enforced in any serious way. That's the core issue right now, because it's politically unpopular." Rasmussen expects Obamacare's mandate would not be enforced even after the fall midterm elections. Once the nation begins to gear up for the next presidential election, he anticipates that "neither party is going to nominate somebody who will support the mandate." Should Republicans gain a majority in the Senate after the fall midterm elections, Rasmussen said they would start to pass laws "to get rid of it," and the mandate would "just go away." Without the mandate, he said Obamacare's "entire accounting system falls apart." The fact that people have not enrolled in Obamacare in greater numbers, even with subsidies from the government, shows the level of skepticism for the product, Rasmussen said. "The American people are a lot smarter than regulators believe," he said. "The government is offering them free money, and they're saying, 'No. We don't want to buy that overpriced insurance.' "They figured out that the insurance was overpriced. They figured out that it wasn't going to be enforced. And, so they're ignoring it," he said.
