There is an awful lot of truth to that. We are, at the very least, the world's innovators. Because we are where the money is.

Obamacare, if it does not one other thing, will KILL innovation. Because it is misguided in its efforts to curtail costs by curtailing profits instead of curtailing cost by improving efficiency.

Google 'medical tourism'. There are a lot of Americans who go somewhere else for medical care.

About half of all drugs are developed in the US. Which makes sense since we also consume half of all drugs. But, for their size, the UK and the Swiss beat everyone.

Have you ever been to a med. school? I worked at UTMB-Galveston in the early 1980s. It is a teaching hospital. Foreign med. students are very rare.
