It didn't illustrate that at all. It was about error minimization regardless of whether the error's effect and regardless of whether they get "selected" or not. It wasn't even about EVOLUTION, it was about errors that occur in building proteins. And it found that the existing standard DNA code is much much better at minimizing errors in building proteins than a million other alternate codes would be. It could conceivably be the best possible code, though more study would need to be done to say that. The number of potential alternate codes is massive.
