First of all you said "likely a jihadist". Secondly do you recall John Walker Lindh? Doesn't sound jihad like does it. Many people in this country have become radicalized. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors and enthnicity. I interviewed several white young men who were seriously brainwashed and impressed by Islam and Jihad although they only became aware of Islam after 9/11. They came from nice families for the most part.
