Pentagon sources tell CBS News that the Fort Hood shooter is a soldier — identified as 34-year-old Ivan Lopez — and that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. CBS News reports that the shooting stemmed from a soldier dispute. According to Fox News 14 people were wounded with injuries ranging from stable to very critical. The shooting reportedly started between 4:25 and 4:30 central time and for several hours Fort Hood was in lockdown, and the nation didn't know the number of shooters or whether or the shooter(s) were terrorists. While all this was unfolding, Obama was in Chicago for a pair of fund raisers. Air Force One touched down at O'Hare Airport at 4:00 pm and the president was whisked off to his first scheduled stop at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse, where he attended a private roundtable discussion for the DNC. Reportedly 25 supporters paid up to $32,400 to attend that event. Then he was off to a private residence in Lincoln Park where he attended a dinner reception where 55 supporters paid up to $10,000 to meet the president. Obama was expected to leave Chicago for Washington DC at around 8:30 p.m. He interrupted his event at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse to make a brief statement about the ongoing shooting incident. Can you please stop putting words in my mouth! That you can pull that from my saying "we need to protect our democracy" shows how loose your thinking is. You can't possibly argue for "protecting democracy" and then support Democrats at the same time. Democrats are all about everything BUT democracy. The point I tried to make which apparently was way, way, way over your head, is that the current crop of Democrats have totally destroyed the components of democracy we used to count on. Like a free press and fair elections and fair democratic processes within our Congress. Democrats have destroyed all these. This is not to suggest that Republicans aren't culpable as they certainly are. But Democrats had an opportunity to behave responsibly over the last five years and they have pushed to new limits, to a point where the country is not even respectable anymore. Barack Obama is no more qualified to hold the presidency than the average cell phone salesman. He's absolutely pathetic, unaccomplished and a national embarrassment. Yet, you sold your souls to the devil to get this black man as a president. You couldn't elect a black man of competence and reasonableness; you elected a scoundrel. So, you destroyed democracy if anyone did. It is absurd for you to come here talking about "protecting" democracy. You honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Just fuck off. You're not worth the time. Not only are you ignorant, you obviously cannot learn and can't comprehend the issues. I've got stuff to do and you're just too fucking stupid to waste time on.
