another case of descent with modification

One of the factors that makes meme theory (the evolution of ideas) differ from gene theory (the evolution of life) is that up to now genes were pretty much the product of only the parents and a little mutation. In memes there can be modifications and joinings between ideas. Natural selection is a much simpler subject because the information does not get mixed in such complicated arrangements.
