The CBO of course estimated quite a few things about the ACA. How well those estimates pan out is the question. Data will be forth coming over the next 12+ months, with I hope some in the next month or so. I think it is difficult to predict with any accuracy what will happen when this level of change is involved. Realistically it will take several years for people's behavior to adapt, and for things to settle into whatever they are going to settle into. And yes, the F35 program could pay for quite a bit of healthcare. It could pay for even more if the cost of healthcare in the USA was more like the cost of care in the rest of the advanced world.
