4/11/14 Contest update Hackers have yet to wreak havoc on Wall Street by exploiting the “heartbleed bug,” but nasties did plenty of hacking away at stock prices this week. And biotech stocks, in particular, were hemorrhaging profusely. To illustrate the carnage, just 20 of the 165 Contest portfolio stocks gained for the week. The Contest median was still in the black at Friday’s close, although barely, closing up 3.26% YTD (vs. up 12.52% YTD a week ago). However, the Nasdaq Biotech Index closed down -4.98% YTD (vs. down -.55% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index closed down -4.23% YTD (vs. down -1.17% YTD a week ago). GENE’s portfolio, up 48.17% YTD, held on to first place, while GUERL’s portfolio, up 33.27% YTD, moved to second place and JB118’s portfolio, up 32.60% YTD, fell to third place. At Friday's close, 27 of the 46 Contest portfolios remained in the black, while 35 of the 46 were beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
