The more educated they get the more they change. And usually for the better as they see the world in an increasingly complex manner. What too many people just don't get is how much effort it takes to develop the mind to see the complexities of the world and how to negotiate them. How much time and effort it takes to think well. We are not born knowing that stuff and it takes a long long time to learn it well. E.g. Counseling most of those poor folks in jails is useless as they too often do not have the intellectual development to understand what they need to do.
