Elijah Cummings (D) Collaborated With IRS to Target Conservatives Then Lied About It

The wound to the Republic keeps festering, the infection growing deeper and more febrile. Katie Pavlich reports:

directorblue.blogspot.com
New IRS emails released by the House Oversight Committee show staff working for Democratic Ranking Member Elijah Cummings communicated with the IRS multiple times between 2012 and 2013 about voter fraud prevention group True the Vote. True the Vote was targeted by the IRS after applying for tax exempt status more than two years ago. Further, information shows the IRS and Cummings' staff asked for nearly identical information from True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht about her organization, indicating coordination and improper sharing of confidential taxpayer information.

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa, along with five Subcommittee Chairmen are demanding Cummings provide an explanation for the staff inquiries to the IRS about True the Vote and for his denial that his staff ever contacted the IRS about the group.
“Although you have previously denied that your staff made inquiries to the IRS about conservative organization True the Vote that may have led to additional agency scrutiny, communication records between your staff and IRS officials – which you did not disclose to Majority Members or staff – indicates otherwise,” the letter to Cummings states. “As the Committee is scheduled to consider a resolution holding Ms. Lerner, a participant in responding to your communications that you failed to disclose, in contempt of Congress, you have an obligation to fully explain your staff’s undisclosed contacts with the IRS.”

...Up until this point, Rep. Cummings has denied his staff ever contacted the IRS about True the Vote and their activities during Oversight hearings. In fact, on February 6, 2014 during a Subcommittee hearing where Engelbrecht testified, Cummings vehemently denied having any contact or coordination in targeting True the Vote when attorney Cleta Mitchell, who is representing the group, indicated staff on the Committee had been involved in communication with the IRS...

Issa has gone so far as to accuse Cummings of instigating the partisan witch-hunt against True the Vote.

In February 2012, Engelbrecht’s True the Vote received a letter from the IRS requesting more information about the group; one of Cummings’s letters, which Engelbrecht received in October 2012, contained questions that closely mirrored those posed by the IRS. Issa details them in his letter, strongly implying that Cummings based his letter on the one Engelbrecht had already received from the agency: Both requested information about the software True the Vote was using for voter registration, about the process the group used to train its employees, and about the vendors it used to obtain voter lists.

True the Vote’s lawyer, Cleta Mitchell, raised the prospect that the minority staff had exchanged information with the IRS at a hearing in February. “We want to get to the bottom of how these coincidences happened,” Mitchell said, “and we’re trying to figure out whether any — if there was any staff on this committee that might have been involved in putting True the Vote on the radar screen of some of these federal agencies.” Cummings said in response that Mitchell’s tacit allegation was “absolutely incorrect and not true.”

No wonder Cummings has been so anxious to suppress the investigation: he's been intimately involved with the scandal.

Cummings should be censured and removed from the committee. Of course, knowing the cowardly leaders of the GOP, they'll moan "it's a sad day", and do nothing.

Based on my notes, Democrats have succeeded in hitting the trifecta of government corruption. We have a lawless President, a lawless Attorney General, and a lawless House Oversight Committee Ranking Member.

These people need to be dispatched in November and held to account. Talk to your family members, your friends and your colleagues. We have a rogue government; it can not stand if this country is to survive.

Shayne said...
Cummings is the representative to Maryland's 7th District, which is in Baltimore and is 95% black. There is no chance that he'll lose his bid for re-election. Sadly, this goes for numerous members of Congress.

This is how we end up with self-absorbed morons like Sheila Jackson-Lee, Maxine Waters, Alan Grayson and Hank Johnson (to name a few) in the House of Representatives

Grade-school students baffled as brands including Nike, iPods and Barbies appear in exam papers

Daily Mail (UK) ^ | 21 April 2014 | Suzannah Hills

The use of well-known brand names in school tests has led to accusations that education boards are making product placement deals.

Nike, Barbie and iPod were among the more famous brands to have appeared in a recent New York Common Core standardized English test taken by more than a million students in grades three to eight. Other brands included Life Savers and Mug Root Beer.

Outraged parents have demanded an explanation for why specific brand names were used in the tests - with some suggesting they've become little more than just another way of advertising to young children.

But New York state education officials and the test publisher insist the brand references were not paid product placement and just happened to be contained in previously published passages selected for the tests.

One mother Deborah Poppe, from West Hempstead, Long Island, claimed her eighth-grade son complained to her about named brands in the test.

In one question a busboy failed to clean some spilled root beer — Mug Root Beer, to be exact, a registered trademark of PepsiCo.

She said her son asked: 'Why are they trying to sell me something during the test?', adding: 'He's bright enough to realize that it was almost like a commercial.'

Others claimed Nike appeared in a question about being a risk taker and included the line: '"Just Do It" is a registered trademark of Nike'.

Sam Pirozzolo, from Staten Island, whose fifth-grader encountered the Nike question, said there was apparently no reason for such a specific brand.

'I'm sure they could have used a historical figure who took risks and invented things. I'm sure they could have found something other than Nike to express their point.'

MARYLAND GOVERNOR SETS ILLEGALS FREE
............................................................................................
dmldaily.com ^ | 04/22/2014 | SFC Drake

While Homeland Security is reconsidering their position on deporting illegal criminals with ‘trivial’ crimes, Maryland’s Governor O’Malley has taken it one step further. He announced that the Baltimore City Detention Center will no longer comply with a federal policy that requires the jail to detain illegal immigrants for deportation.

O’Malley said the Detention Center will now consider the severity of the charges a person is facing when reviewing I.C.E. requests to hold immigrants through the ‘Secure Communities’ program. The federal program ‘Secure Communities’ was intended to catch and deport dangerous criminals by coordinating with local jails.

We are a government of law and the ‘Rule of Law’ is a system in which a society adopts or maintains a set of good, just, and fair laws by which it and its government will be governed. Why is the law not equally applied?

Political affiliation and how well connected you are to the regime in charge can have a direct bearing on whether you’re prosecuted for breaking the law and how serious the penalty will be. (FYI: Governor O’Malley was appointed to the Council of Governors by President Obama).

As Governor O’Malley speaks of building “a body of work that lays the framework of the candidacy for 2016,” one can clearly surmise he will be nothing more than another Obama.

Black pastors lead rally against persecution by Muslims
........................................................
WND 4/25/14

With persecution against Christians increasing in African nations and other places worldwide where Islam is advancing, an American pastor is calling black churches and others to join together to raise voices of opposition.

Stephen Broden of the Fair Park Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas is organizing a rally in his city next month under the banner of Americans Against the Persecution of Christians in Muslim Countries.

The coalition says it’s “committed to stopping the genocide of Christians in many Muslim countries.”

A march is scheduled to begin May 17 at 2 p.m. at City Hall Plaza in front of Dallas City Hall.

Among the speakers at the Dallas event are Rev. William Owens Jr., author and Jihad Watch founder Robert Spencer, author and Rescue Christians founder Walid Shoebat and counter-terrorism expert David Gaubatz, author of “Muslim Mafia,” published by WND Books.

But the coalition wants ministers of all denominations to join in mass protest marches in all major American cities to “break the politically-correct conspiracy of silence which has concealed this immense crime against humanity.”

Persecuted: The Global Assault on Christians” produces the evidence. It’s available at the WND Superstore

Broden said the coalition is marching “in the footsteps and spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” deriving its core inspiration from his admonition to confront evil openly.

“Our lives begin to end on the day that we become silent about things that matter,” King said.

Broden said what matters is that more than 100,000 Christians are murdered every year for their faith, according to estimates substantiated by the Vatican and the Center for the Study of Global Christianity.

In Africa, as WND has reported, the jihadist group Boko Haram continues to slaughter Christians in Nigeria in its effort to establish Islamic law. Sudan has been the scene of atrocities against Christians for decades. An estimated 1.5 million Christians have been killed in the genocidal campaigns carried out by Muslims from the north since 1984.

The international group Open Doors recently stated that nine out of the 10 countries cited for the worst Christian persecution are Muslim

Obama is Bursting the Left's Bubbles

................................................................................................................
americanthinker.com
By J.R. Dunn April 23, 2014

Early 2014 will be viewed historically as the period when most of the American left’s bubbles detached themselves completely from reality and wafted off to Unicornland.

In the modern era it has become fashionable to create and fully upholster one’s own bubble out of the rag ends of various ideologies, fads, and daydreams. To in effect attempt to establish an individual reality, more often than not at odds with the world as it actually exists. Such efforts quickly come up against individual limitations, both intellectual and emotional, but that doesn’t seem to discourage people.

Nowhere has this impulse been greater than as involves politics, and nowhere has it been more fervent than on the left. Leftism is a hyperbubble in and of itself, consisting of nearly as many sub-bubbles as there are leftists (it has long been understood that leftism is essentially the politicization of petty personal grievances). Living in leftist bubbles -- whether feminist, racial, academic, communist, or what have you -- amounts to a way of life for millions of Americans.

This is the secret of Obama’s appeal, and the explanation of the long-pondered mystery of what he’s really up to, what his actual goal is. The truth is, there is no goal. Or rather, the goal, the plan, involves simply lighting up all those bereft and chilly bubbles abiding in major urban areas, college towns, and fringes along each coast. That is the ultimate goal, and there is nothing coherent or comprehensible beyond it. A fundamentally stupid man, one who time and again has demonstrated complete lack of understanding of the world as it exists, Obama is as enrapt with illusion as his followers. (Oh, I’ll grant him a kind of feral cleverness, but any con artist has that.) Obama exists in his own bubble, in no way more valid than that of any other American leftist.

To examine a few examples, we’ll start with the military illusion -- namely, that it is U.S. power that causes all wars.

This is derived quite simply from Marxist-Leninist theory: wars are a byproduct of “capitalism.” The U.S., as the premier “capitalist” state, is ipso facto, the cause of war.

This is the primum mobile of the modern American left, the driver of such people as Michael Moore, Oliver Stone, and Medea Benjamin. There is a list that circulates throughout the left, consisting of the countries “invaded” by the U.S. in the 20th century. The list includes such nations as France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Philippines in 1944. The fact that most leftists have no idea what was going in 1944 is beside the point. Those countries were invaded, and the U.S. done it. End of story. The same is true of Grenada, Kuwait, and Iraq in later years.

So Obama’s debasing of the U.S. military was one of the most welcome elements of his ascension to office (long with the introduction of PC into the military, and enforcing feminist and racist dogma). Iraq and Afghanistan have been abandoned, deployment of missile defenses in Central Europe was cancelled, Obama has devoted himself to “leading from behind,” with results more disastrous than any since the 60s. The oafish Chuck Hagel was appointed secretary of defense, announcing recently that the Army would be cut to pre-WW II level (in the midst of ongoing hostilities), the Tomahawk and Hellfire missiles -- the most successful guided missiles in the arsenal of any nation in history -- are to cease production, not to mention contemptuous cuts in military benefits that are somehow not matched by any similar cuts for public-sector unions.

The outcome has been exactly the opposite of left-wing expectations. Collapse of public order in Iraq is the most trivial result. Far more important is wholesale descent into chaos along the North African littoral, a revanchist Russia invading Georgia and Ukraine, still-vague threats from China, and an aggressive and defiant Shi’ite Iran completing its quest for nuclear weapons.

It’s no coincidence that the invasion of Crimea followed only two days after the Hagel’s announcement of deeper military cuts. More recently we have seen the brazen and repeated buzzing of an American warship in international waters. Eastern Ukraine may well have been seized by the time you read this. Such incidents will occur at least once a month or more often from now until Obama leaves office. He can’t do anything about them because he has stripped the country of necessary assets. (e.g., only a single carrier battle group is now on call. The rest are either committed or on “stretched” refitting -- that is, beached to save money.) Furthermore, any attempted ripostes on his part would inevitably fail, because not a single one of his advisors -- Valerie Jarrett, John Kerry, Susan Rice, Hagel, Samantha Power is capable of any strategic insight or grasp of complex planning. Benghazi revealed as much.

Obama has unleashed the hounds of hell across vast swaths of the globe
. And what is the left-wing response? There isn’t one. There isn’t one because none of this is happening. Not a single element of it has penetrated into the bubbles.

Mexican Cartel hired MS-13 to carry out torture operation in Minnesota...
......................................................................................................................................................................

May 07, 2014
latino.foxnews.com

Matheus Kawasaki @ Flickr

The Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area is a long way away from the home turf of Mexico’s Sinaloa drug cartel, but that didn’t stop three cartel enforcers from making their way up the region in an attempt to hunt down two teenagers they accused of stealing drugs and money from a stash house.

The three enforcers were allegedly sent from Los Angeles to St. Paul on orders from the Sinaloa cartel to find the people who stole 30 pounds of methamphetamine and $200,000 from a stash house in St. Paul. The two teens that the cartel hit men snagged were tortured, had their lives and that that of their families threatened and were told to find the missing drugs or come up with $300,000 to compensate the cartel, according to court documents obtained by the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune newspaper.

“The kidnappers told [the 19-year-old] that if he didn’t return the drugs or come up with the money, he and his entire family would be killed,” according to court documents.

Despite indictments pending and two of three enforcers taken into custody, the story has people in the Twin Cities area shocked and worried as law enforcement deals with a spike in drug trafficking and heroin overdoses.

Federal authorities told the Star Tribune that they are not shocked that the Sinaloa cartel would go to such lengths to retrieve their money and drugs, especially in the lucrative Midwest heroin market. What worries them is that instead of using their own people, the cartel apparently hired the hit men from the feared Mara Salvatrucha 13 street gang (MS-13).

One of the men, 22-year old Jonatan Alvarez Delgado, was arrested in Minnesota and confessed to the crime. Another, Jesus Ramirez, 31, was captured in California after leading FBI agents on a chase through downtown Los Angeles and the third, known only as “Chapop,” is still at large.

MS-13 was founded by immigrants fleeing El Salvador's civil war more than two decades ago. Its founders took lessons learned from the brutal conflict to the streets of Los Angeles as they built a reputation as one of the most ruthless and sophisticated street gangs in the country, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent Jason Shatarsky.

With as many as 10,000 members in 46 states, the gang has expanded beyond its initial and local roots. Members are accused of crimes ranging from kidnapping and murder to drug smuggling and human trafficking.

Shatarsky, an MS-13 expert assigned to ICE's national gang unit, said the group quickly established itself in Los Angeles before spreading across the country. The group's penchants for violence — using a machete to hack a victim to death or shooting someone in the head in broad daylight for instance — surprised authorities and rival gangs.

The gang now has a large presence in Southern California, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia, all areas with substantial Salvadoran populations. And in any community where the gang operates, Shatarsky said, its members often prey on their own community, targeting residents and business owners for extortion, among other crimes. The gang is also active in Central America and in parts of Mexico and authorities in Europe have reported evidence of MS-13 expanding operations there.

Anti-Catholic full-page ad in the New York Times today
................................................................................................
American Thinker ^ | 07/03/2014 | Ed Lasky

The Hobby Lobby decision has ignited liberals and unleashed their prejudice. And this ad is shameful.

The New York Times has a full-page ad in its print edition today that should elicit protests around the nation (but likely won’t).

Here is a copy from the website of the Freedom From Religious Foundation that wrote and paid for the ad ffrf.org

The photo of the woman at top is that of Margaret Sanger-idol of the pro-choice movement (and the founder of Planned Parenthood) who -- this has been all but erased from the panegyrics to her greatness -- was a proponent of eugenics. She was, in the words of Arina Grossu a “racist, eugenicist extraordinaire” whose role in pushing these Nazi-like laws resulted in more than 60,000 sterilizations of vulnerable people, including people she considered ‘feeble-minded”, “idiots” and “morons.” She also spoke to KKK women’s groups.

But what is worse is this line from the ad: “All-male, All-Roman Catholic Majority on Supreme Court Puts Religious Wrongs over Women’s Rights.”

If the ad read “All Male, all Muslim” the Times would have rejected the ad as hate.

Ironically for the NYT, the Hobby Lobby consisted of a majority of women,
who used the rule of law and the constitution as the measuring stick to get this ruling. So what the NYT is really saying is, they hate the constitution, the voice of Americans and the rule of law. Such a world we live in nowadays

Devastated father takes to Facebook with a blunt message after his son dies of an overdose

08Nov, 2014 by Rachel Alexander
http://rightwingnews.com/top-news/devastated-father-takes-facebook-blunt-message-son-dies-overdose/

After his 20-year old son overdosed on drugs, Mike Stollings decided to post a photo of his body at the funeral home on Facebook out of grief and guilt. The tragic photo of Jeramie Ratliff was soon shared over 7,700 times. Stollings said he hopes it may help others. Jeramie leaves behind an infant son of his own.

Rare posted the father’s sad words from Facebook:

lets take another look at how fun drugs are…………… this is my son about an hour after the funeral home got him late monday afternoon. when he died he had been bleeding out of his ears and had blood in his hair and foam in his mouth. they were kind enough to clean him before we got there. his body was ice cold from being kept in a refrigerator. my cold dead son. father of a 10 month boy. grandson to 3 living grand parents. step-brother to 2. half brother to 3 son to 2 living parents and a step parent that helped raise him since he was a young child. all completely devastated. well little asher is too young to know what is going on but will live his life wondering what it would be like to know his dad. as many of you know jeramie was pretty open about his relationship with LSD. he was a little more quiet about his love for Dextromethorphan. despite the begging and pleading from me and many others in his family he craved the trip and was obsessed about it…………look i know that not everybody that takes drugs is going to die from it. but many do. jeramie thought he had it under control. he thought he was smarter than the drug and had more control than the drug. now he is in a refrigerator in a funeral home in englewood. now people are in transit from all across this country to say their final goodbye’s. now my family has to spend over $5000 in funeral expenses. now i will never be able to hike with him or ride dirt bikes with him. he will never be able to take his son camping………….those of you that use just for a little fun here and there. you don’t have to use but you like to party a little. think for a second about how there are those around you with larger mental issues. like jeramie, he was carrying some mental baggage that even i can’t comprehend. by partying with these people you encourage them and enable them to do it to use drugs as an escape. that is the every last thing people like this need. these people need actual help. these people need encouragement to heal in healthy ways. they need to feel genuine love and uplifting encouragement not encouragement to get high again. think about the influence you have on these people. think about the path of destruction being left behind…….people, learn from this. help make something positive from this tragedy. walk away from this lifestyle. find someone that loves you and ask them for help. don’t let this become you. don’t do this to your family. use our pain and anguish. learn from it. turn to someone you love. get help. if you do not have some you think you can turn to message me. i’ll do all in my power to help you. it’s not too late to save yourself and your family from repeating this horror. believe me when i say you do not want to experience this and you do not want your loved ones to have to experience this anguish.

This father is to be commended for using the sad experience to educate others and perhaps save some lives. Despite the horrendous grief he must be going through, he is still thinking of others. Stollings humbly blames himself, but we don’t know the facts. Some of the best parents have children who take the wrong path in life despite their best efforts. Most likely the young man was influenced by the bad parts of our culture – Hollywood glamorizing drugs, friends whose parents ignored their drug use, and the “do anything if it feels right” attitude the left promotes. It is too late for this young man, but not for those headed down this path. Hopefully this photo will continue to be shared everywhere.

Charles Barkley on Ferguson & the media:

...... When asked about the Ferguson decision, and why “Black America” doesn’t trust the ruling, Barkley said that “the true story came out from the grand jury testimony," adding that he was made aware of "key forensic evidence, and several black witnesses that supported Officer Darren Wilson’s story for the first time Monday Night. I can’t believe anything I hear on television anymore. And, that’s why I don’t like talking about race issues with the media anymore, because they (the media) love this stuff, and lead people to jump to conclusions. The media shouldn’t do that. They never do that when black people kill each other”

Barkley also praised the police saying “we have to be really careful with the cops, because if it wasn’t for the cops we would be living in the Wild, Wild West in our neighborhoods. We can’t pick out certain incidentals that don’t go our way and act like the cops are all bad. Do you know how bad some of these neighborhoods would be without the cops?”

Barkley also had thoughts on the people that participated in looting after the decision, “they aren’t real black people. They are all scumbags.”

Report claims France didn’t want Netanyahu at Paris march

........................................................................................
Times of Israel ^ | January 11, 2015

According to Israeli media, Elysee Palace extended invite to Abbas after PM announced he would join historic rallyThe French government was opposed to the idea of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attending Sunday’s historic march in Paris, believing the Israeli leader’s presence at the rally would be “divisive,” Israeli media reported Sunday. Netanyahu did not initially plan to attend the event, which was organized in a show of solidarity and defiance after terrorist attacks in the French capital, which claimed 17 lives. However, the Prime Minister changed his mind after Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman and Economy Minister Naftali Bennett announced they would join the march, Israel’s Channel 2 news reported.

In retaliation the Elysee Palace extended an invitation to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, according to the report.

The French government reportedly further chose to highlight their invite to Abbas rather than Netanyahu’s announcement regarding the event, announcing a planned meeting between French President Francois Hollande and Abbas Saturday night.

On Sunday, Hollande and world leaders, including Netanyahu and Abbas, marched in the mammoth procession, which began near where gunmen killed 12 people at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo last week.

Some 1.5 million people marched in the massive rally, the largest of a series of demonstrations around France that brought some 3.7 million people out into the streets, according to figures cited by AFP.

The leaders observed a minute’s silence as the march got underway.

A sea of humanity flowed through Paris’s iconic streets, breaking into applause and spontaneous renditions of the national anthem, as a shell-shocked France mourned the victims of three days of bloody violence.

Organizers put the crowd at the historic march at between 1.3 and 1.5 million.

Emotions ran high in the grieving City of Light, with many of those marching bursting into tears as they came together under the banner of freedom of speech and liberty after France’s worst terrorist bloodbath in more than half a century.

Among the victims were four Jews at a kosher supermarket and a Muslim police officer.
