What these high schoolers fail to realize is that EVERYTHING is about the Obamas.

According to DailyMail, “Taylor Gifford, 18, started an online petition on Thursday with over 1,200 signatures asking that Michelle Obama not speak at Topeka High School graduation… Some students feel that the speech would overshadow student accomplishments and others feel limited seating will be a problem.”

The students are worried Michelle’s speech would overshadow their accomplishments and also limit the seating for their friends and family. But see, what these high schoolers fail to realize is that EVERYTHING is about the Obamas.

That’s why the President tweeted a picture of himself to celebrate the anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat on the bus.

That’s why the President’s gift to Queen Elizabeth was an ipod pre-loaded with his speeches and photos of his inauguration.

That’s why the President spent a three-day government shutdown posing for a portrait.

That’s why Michelle goes on her constant vacations and hosts extravagant dinners on the taxpayer’s dime.

That’s why the President showed up 30 minutes late and alone to dinner with Putin and other world leaders to discuss Syria.

That’s why the President took a “selfie” at Nelson Mandela’s funeral.

That’s why the President went to Vegas on the day when news broke about the attack in Benghazi.

The list is literally unending. They aren’t leaders. They’re narcissists.

I suspect the high school will not have the courage to cancel the First Lady’s speech. But if the First Lady has any concern for the students and their families, she’ll respect their wishes and their special day and stay home.

Over 1,200 high school seniors sign petition against Michelle Obama speaking at their graduation 8

Why are the cops punishing Common Core opponents?
.................................................................................................
The Daily Caller ^ | 4-21-2014 | Robby Soave

A school district asked the police to prohibit certain students from setting foot on school property because their parents had privacy concerns about Common Core-aligned standardized testing, and wished to opt their kids out.

The incident happened at Marietta City Schools in Marietta, Georgia. The Finney family didn’t want their three children — in third grade, fifth grade and ninth grade — to participate in the state-mandated Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, partly because of the vast amounts of data the government is collecting about their children, and partly because they think the tests don’t serve a compelling educational interest, according to The Marietta Daily Journal.

Their sentiments are shared by a growing number of parents around the country, who increasingly see standardized tests as a costly bureaucratic tool that allows the government to gather personal information about kids. Criticisms of the tests are closely linked to criticisms of Common Core, the new national education curriculum standards that are fiercely opposed by both conservative grassroots and teachers unions.

“They are collecting data on our children,” said Mary Finney in a statement. “Now, with Common Core there is such a large amount of information and data collected on children. People don’t realize it. We don’t want to sound like we’re wearing tin-foil hats, but they want to track our kids from kindergarten through college.”

The Finney family attempted to opt out of the tests, but administrators were unsure whether they were legally permitted to do so.

And then — at West Side Elementary School — a police officer barred the Finneys from setting foot on school property.

If the kids weren’t going to take the tests, their presence at school was a “kind of trespassing thing,” according to the officer.

Administrators sent an email to the parents advising them that their children would also be barred from attending school on CRCT makeup test days.

Randy Weiner, a school board chairman, said he would not force the kids to take the tests, although he found it hard to sympathize with their position.

“Generally speaking, if it were my kids who simply were stressed out about taking the CRCT, I would tell them to get with the program and that they would be taking the CRCT today,” he said in a statement.

A spokeswoman for the school district did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Common Core State Standards: FRC (Family Research Council) Position
..............................................................
Family Research Council ^ | Sarah Perry

1. The children of this nation belong first to their parents and families, not to their communities or governments. The primary authority over and direction of a child's education lies with that child's parent or guardian.

2. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were created without benefit of transparency, by a non-profit organization, with the involvement of very few educators, and majority funded and influenced by corporate interests. Democratic participation, educator input, and opportunity for revision during the "closed door" development of the Standards were utterly lacking. The Standards were introduced and later adopted without benefit of field testing, and multiple members of the Standards validation committee refused to approve them.

3. The CCSS "dumb down" the teaching of America's students by emphasizing "perspectives" and "critical thinking" over content and facts. The CCSS utilize uniform standards that not only eliminate more advanced material from previous teaching curriculums, but also prohibit teachers from teaching students individually and instead promotes a "one size fits all" approach to teaching. CCSS also lower the standards of higher-performing states in order to align educational content and testing to the CCSS.

4. The CCSS Initiative represents a massive and dangerous overreach on the part of the Federal government. The principle of states' rights is outlined in the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which states that any powers not delegated to the federal government are granted to the states. Education is best accomplished when it is left to local communities, parents, teachers, and states. [1]

5. The CCSS Initiative has resulted in, and will continue to result in, an exodus and demoralization of the nation's experienced educators. With the elimination of teacher creativity in content and approach, the CCSS shifted the delivery of education from teachers to technology, with test scores serving as the ultimate standard of educational success. [2]

6. The CCSS will push low-income, minority, and disabled children onto vocational tracks, and will establish a test-based meritocracy. Without the opportunity for individualization of education, and a national disparity of resources from child to child, disadvantaged children will not benefit from either the uniformity of the CCSS, or the renewed emphasis on standardized testing as research shows test scores are heavily influenced by socioeconomic status. [3]

7. The CCSS are costing billions to implement, and the costs will be borne by local school districts. New technology, new teaching materials, increased bandwidth for testing, and teacher training have and will cost taxpayers approximately $15 billion dollars over an anticipated implementation timeline of seven years, and will necessarily defer other education expenditures. [4]

8. The CCSS are developmentally inappropriate for young children. No one with experience in the field of early childhood development was involved in the drafting of the standards, and more than 500 early childhood educators have signed a statement saying the CCSS emphasize academic skills and testing over imaginative play, while requiring children to make sophisticated leaps in reasoning that they are not capable of at young ages. [5] , [6]

9. The CCSS promote an equivalence of worldviews and moral ambiguity that may disrespect the faith, traditions, or upbringing of students. The CCSS promote a progressive, liberal narrative of the world, not only as a result of their being the creation of a massive and centralized educational approach, but also by way of the materials deemed "core-approved," and which are, in the words of the Standards drafters themselves, designed to "broaden worldviews." [7] , [8]

10. The CCSS lack a system of oversight or correction. The CCSS do not answer questions about what to do with students who fail standardized assessments, give no direction as to how to police the division of informational and fictional texts in high school, and make no provision for how to fix problems or revise the standards.

[1] Three federal laws are clear that the federal government is to resist involvement in matters of education, such as curriculum, student testing, and the creation of a national student database. The conformity of copyrighted "core approved" materials already distributed by corporations like Pearson Education and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will necessarily lead to uniformity of curriculum. Uniformity in testing managed by federally-funded consortia Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) ensures sameness in assessments as well.

Former Va. Girls Scouts CEO pleads guilty to embezzlement

Linda Carne had been listed as the executive director of the Center for Personal and Career Development at Randolph-Macon College.

BILL McKELWAY Richmond Times-Dispatch

It cost more money to track down the fraudulent financial dealings of Linda Carne than the money the former Girl Scout executive Monday admitted embezzling.

But it was somehow fitting that it took a forensic audit of Carne’s credit card expenses to prove that the Girl Scout CEO and onetime forensic science director had her hand in more than the cookie jar.

Carne, 62, pleaded guilty to a single count of embezzlement Monday in Hanover Circuit Court and faces up to 20 years in prison when she is sentenced in July.

Carne, sitting beside defense lawyer Craig Cooley and speaking in a steady voice, calmly admitted embezzlements that totaled $22,979.80 from the 12,000 strong Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia, which covers 30 counties and six cities, including Richmond.

The Crozier resident was indicted in January by a multijurisdictional grand jury for personal expenses that she rang up on her Girl Scout-issued credit card.

Special prosecutor Matthew C. Ackley told Hanover Circuit Judge Patricia Kelly that it took Virginia State Police and a forensic audit by a private firm that cost $51,539.19 to nail down Carne’s fraud.

Annette Cousins, chair of the Scouts’ board of directors, said Monday that the losses attributed to Carne will be covered by insurance. And a spokesperson for the organization, based in Mechanicsville, said procedures regarding credit card use have been tightened.

“This is not a happy day for us,” Cousins said in a written statement. “Our mission is to build ‘girls of courage, confidence and character’ and this clearly was an issue of character that we could not over look.”

Ackley laid out a series of embezzlements that centered on bogus hotel costs, treatments at spas, meals, Amtrak and airline tickets, professional baseball games and other expenses around the country that were billed to Carne’s Scout-issued credit card.

Ackley said virtually all of the expenses were attributed to outreach efforts to Scout leaders in other communities but that investigators were able to show the meetings rarely took place. Many of the expenses were payments that benefitted her own family members, not other Scout leaders or the organization as a whole, Ackley said in court.

A stay at the Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan, for instance, rang up a $905.68 tab. There was Calphalon cookware that cost $350 and was supposedly used in the Scouts’ Mechanicville headquarters but could not be found there.

Attending an equestrian event in Lexington, Ky., cost $4,218. A trip to Boston rang up a $2,259.94 bill. A Philadelphia trip in the summer of 2011 cost $1,185.53. Many of the trips to big cities also coincided with professional baseball games there that Carne attended and charged to the Scouts.

Carne is no stranger to nonprofit organizational endeavors and community outreach programs.

On Monday, Randolph-Macon College in Ashland removed Carnes’ picture and biographical material from a website that listed her as head of the school’s Center for Personal and Career Development. A spokesperson declined to provide the dates of Carne’s employment or salary.

Carne was also close with author and former Richmond resident Patricia Cornwell. Fourteen years ago Carne was executive director of the Virginia Institute of Forensic Science and Medicine, which was initially funded and partly created by Cornwell.

The institute, which trained forensic scientists, eventually folded for lack of public funding but not before assisting Cornwell in her nonfictional account of Jack the Ripper, the London killer.

The institute’s directors included former Va. Gov. James S. Gilmore III, University of Virginia professor Larry J. Sabato and Paul B. Ferrara, then the director of the state Division of Forensic Science.

Carne, who began work with the century-old Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth on April 30, 2010, was terminated as CEO on Dec. 22, 2011. She was replaced by former House of Delegates member Viola O. Baskerville, who has a lifelong history with Scouting, in January 2012. Baskerville was named permanent CEO in March last year.

Carne, one of the few salaried persons within the Scout hierarchy, was paid in excess of $100,000 a year, according to public financial disclosure documents. She will be sentenced July 7.

Bill Gates is a sad clown today because his bizarre $100 million student data project has failed

dailycaller.com ^ | april 22, 2014 | eric owens

Common Core-loving billionaire Bill Gates has suffered a stinging defeat in his ambitious quest to reform every cranny of the American K-12 public education system.

The nonprofit educational-software company InBloom Inc., which the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Carnegie Corp. of New York financed to the tune of $100 million, announced on Monday that it will shut down permanently.

The reason for the shutdown is a steady cascade of parental and legislative anxiety about student privacy, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The strategy driving inBloom had been to create a huge database connecting local school districts and state education bureaucracies with behemoth education companies.

To accomplish this goal, the nonprofit had hoped to provide a smorgasbord of data about students. What homework are they doing? What tests are they assigned? What are their test scores? Their specific learning disabilities? Their disciplinary records? Their skin colors? Their names? Their addresses?

The Atlanta-based company had originally signed up nine states for the database. It planned to charge school districts between $2 and $5 per student for the privilege of participating in the student data collection scheme.

Many parents across the country – particularly in the otherwise fairly disparate states of New York and Louisiana – hated the bizarrely intrusive idea from the start and rallied key state legislators to their causes.

Real Class Always Shows

A doctor had his TV on in his office when the news of the military base shootings at Ft. Hood , TX came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there.

He called her into his office and as he told her what had happened, she got a text message from her husband saying, "I am okay." Her cell phone rang right after she read the message. It was an ER nurse,” I’m the one who just sent you a text, not your husband.
I thought it would be comforting but I was mistaken in doing so. I am sorry to tell you this, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery."

The soldier's wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan, AL and drove all night to Ft.Hood. When she arrived, she found out her husband was out of surgery and would be OK. She rushed to his room and found that he already had two visitors there to comfort him.

He was just waking up and found his wife and the visitors by his side. The nurse took this picture:

What? No news crews and cameras? This is how people with class respond and pay respect to those in uniform.
I sent my cousin in Fayetteville , N.C. (Retired from Special Forces) that picture of Geo. W. visiting the wounded at Ft. Hood . I got this reply:

What is even better is the fact George W. Bush heard about Fort Hood, got in his car without any escort, apparently they did not have time to react, and drove to Fort Hood. He was stopped at the gate and the guard could not believe who he had just stopped. Bush only asks for directions to the hospital then drove on. The gate guard called that "The President is on Fort Hood and driving to the hospital."

The base went bananas looking for Obama. When they found it was Bush, they immediately offered escort. Bush simply told them it was o.k. and to let him visit the wounded and the dependents of the dead.

He stayed at Fort Hood for over six hours, and was finally asked to leave by a message from the White House.

Obama flew in days later and held a "photo opportunity" session in a gym, and did not even go to the hospital.

All this I picked up from two soldiers here who happened to be at Fort Hood when it all happened.
This Bush/Obama/Ft.Hood story is something that should be sent to every voter in the US . Those who wanted "change". You certainly got it.

Education as Covert Op

................................................................................................
Right Side News ^ | March 31, 2014 | Bruce Deitrick Price

[SUMMARY: The Education Establishment wanted to use the schools for social engineering. The US didn’t want this. So the top educators turned to covert approaches.]----- If you say to someone, “Your life can be improved, here is a set of rules, follow them and you will be a better and happier person,” that’s a legitimate approach. That’s Buddhism with its Eightfold Path, Christianity with its Ten Commandments, the Boy Scouts with their Code.

That’s the way all religions and philosophies have operated since the beginning of time. They candidly state what they think you should do. Then they say, the decision is up to you.

None Of The Above is what our Education Establishment has been doing the last 100 years. They conducted their campaign against traditional education in a furtive and treacherous manner. They had a hidden agenda which they hoped to impose by cunning on the country.

Rarely honest, they were instead disingenuous and conspiratorial. The “progressives” who took over our educational system were very careful not to let people know what they were doing. These covert operatives clearly knew they had to work outside the law.

Ideally, from their point of view, they would control the government and not have to sneak about. Until they had that power, what does a secret cult (i.e., our Education Establishment) do to reach its goals? Answer: subversion. A huge amount of ingenuity has been displayed in hundreds of initiatives intended to sabotage traditional practice.

The primary technique was simply to demonize and delete knowledge, to assert that children do not need to know X, Y and Z. Much of this could be done openly. But parents continually demanded that traditional subjects be taught.

At some point the Education Establishment had to be more clever. They introduced pedagogical methods that kept children busy without advancing their education very far. The paradigm is reading During the 1920’s so-called “progressive” educators created a way to teach reading that did not teach much reading. This was called Look-say (1931) and then later Whole Word and other names. Children were told to memorize “sight-words” as graphic designs. Thus began the Reading Wars and the slide toward semi-literacy for all but top-level students.

The same sinister ingenuity went into creating New Math and later Reform Math. Kids were kept elaborately busy but years later they didn’t know how to multiply and divide.

A third breakthrough was called Constructivism which requires that children figure out everything for themselves. Teachers are no longer allowed to teach, which reduces the knowledge-flow tremendously. Again you have the semblance of education, often at a frantic level, but at the end of the year the children hardly learn anything.

All of these counterproductive methods and many others (nowadays promoted under the umbrella term Common Core) are commonly used in the public schools. How, you may well demand, could they do all this mischief in plain sight? How, we might equally well ask, could Bernie Madoff steal billions of dollars from people he knew personally? The con artist has the edge. He knows exactly what he’s trying to do, as does the covert operative. In contrast, the victims are trusting and oblivious.

At this point, Madoff is in jail, a convicted felon. But most people are not yet able to see that the Education Establishment, in conducting its covert op, has been engaged in criminal activity. What else can you call it when schools deliberately dumb down children, thereby stealing their IQ, and reducing their earning potential? These harmful activities should be regarded as the felonies they are—assault and battery.

John Dewey and his socialist pals wanted a new kind of country. They were willing to tell lies and break heads (metaphorically at least) to achieve their agenda What they were not willing to do is candidly explain their beliefs. They were not willing to say, “Mr. and Mrs. America, we think too much literacy is a mistake. Your children don’t need to read all that well. They don’t need to know very much. They’ll be working in factories and on farms. What’s the point? Frankly, we want a simpler and dumber America, where smart people like us make all the decisions.”

So Dewey and his pals put on their poker faces, stuck an extra ace in every pocket, and set out to fleece the suckers. Finally, their every action was like an email scam. It was like putting fluoride in the water supply (which the Nazis and Communists talked about and probably did). It was like bombarding somebody’s house with microwave until they get sick (the Russians are fond of this technique). That’s what education has been in America for 75 years.

One knows this covert assault has taken place simply by looking at the results. According to Professor Allan Ornstein “U. S. students consistently score on achievement tests below students in other industrialized nations, despite the fact that we spend more money per student on education than all the countries except Switzerland.”

The Education Establishment is always in the curious position of having a losing season, as they say in sports. But in education we are always having a losing century. The ever lower stats, the country’s ever growing ignorance— how else can you explain all that without recourse to intent and malfeasance?

Finally, there is no other way to explain how a country with our brains and resources could possibly end up with such dopey schools. You are finally forced to the conclusion that the people in charge of our schools conspired to create the schools we now have. What’s the appropriate punishment for these felons?

CODA: Common Core should be opposed because it is arguably the culmination of all these covert ops. Indiana just opted out. Hopefully, all states will pull back from this draconian scheme.

In Illinois, there is a state law requiring public schools to offer at least one unit on grievance-stoking “African-American history.” But that’s not good enough for the Chicago Public Schools, which are planning to devote the entire curriculum to the absurd ideology of Afrocentricity.

The curriculum covers kindergarten through tenth grade and is designed to align with Common Core. It includes a web link to TheAfrican.com, a website whose publisher decries “fake-Jews” and calls the United States a “Zionist-occupied enemy territory.”

The curriculum will apply Afrocentric ideology to

all core disciplines, which include literacy, mathematics, science, social science, the arts, physical education and health.

For an idea of how effectively such an education is likely to prepare students, refer to the sub-Saharan African nation of your choice.

Prominent in the curriculum is the preposterous book Black Athena by Martin Bernal, who invites fools to prove their political correctness by pretending to believe that the Greeks took their culture from Egypt, and that Egyptians were not Egyptian but black.

[ Does koan know the Greeks he loves stole their culture from blacks? ]

Ron Fritze, a historian, the dean of Athens State University, and author of the book “Invented Knowledge,” says that Bernal’s theories are not historically accurate and have no place in Chicago schools.

Bernal’s pathetic fantasies aren’t the only outlandish lies children will be taught.

Chicago fifth graders will be exposed to another controversial and widely-criticized theory in Ivan van Sertima’s “They Came Before Columbus.” Van Sertima, who taught at Rutgers University, theorized that Africans populated the Americas well before Columbus.

Even the liberal New York Times dismissed van Sertima’s moonbat daydreams as “ignorant rubbish.”

The curriculum will consist largely of ultra-left political indoctrination:

The eighth grade literacy section unit, titled “Being an Advocate to Social Justice,” directs students to the website for the American Civil Liberties Union. It also includes a poem titled “Racism is Around Me Everywhere,” cartoons from the website LeftyCartoons.com, and it encourages discussion of Attorney General Eric Holder’s infamous “nation of cowards” quote.

The ninth grade literacy section encompasses a study of the Pan African Movement. … Tenth graders are introduced to “critical race theory,” which holds that institutional racism and white privilege are pervasive throughout society.

A more pernicious course of brainwashing would be difficult to imagine. Fortunately the graduates of Chicago schools will be able to rely on Affirmative Action to obtain employment; they will need it when coming in competition with those who received educations based on factual knowledge rather than infantile moonbattery.

Assuming the goal is to prevent assimilation, the curriculum is bound to succeed.

Replacing the study of reality in government schools.

Obama is a lazy, pampered, self-absorbed empty suit, overmatched in almost every situation he finds himself. To top it off, he is stunningly narcissistic. The only thing worse than an incompetent moron is a confident, incompetent moron.

Rialto School Board Apologizes for "Horribly Inappropriate" Holocaust Assignment

The "argumentative research assignment" asked eighth-graders to debate whether the Holocaust really happened

<Excerpt>

A Southern California school board is "deeply sorry" for a "horribly inappropriate assignment" that had middle-schoolers debate whether the Holocaust happened, officials said at a contentious meeting Wednesday evening.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center was among the speakers protesting the district's decision during a meeting on Wednesday night.

"There's something broken (in the district)," he said.

He attributed the assignment to "stupidity" and invited the school district to bring both students and staffers to visit the Museum of Tolerance.

Rialto School Board President Joanne T. Gilbert said school district leadership "accepts responsibility and the duty to correct this problem."

He said officials had no intention to be hurtful."

The middle school assignment prompted death threats against school officials and police to be stationed outside schools earlier this week in response.

Before the board's statement, community members slammed the assignment and demanded the board take action.

The "argumentative research assignment" asked eighth-graders to argue whether the Holocaust "was an actual event in history or merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain wealth," according to a copy obtained by NBC4.

Common Core Curriculum is what has broken the public school system and created instances like this that will continue.

They make mealy mouthed apologies and say they'll fix the issue, but they keep this agenda firmly in place, and then something more heinous will come along and they will do their mea culpa shtick and change absolutely nothing.

Obama's defining personal characteristic is incompetence, combined with a self-centeredness that prevents him from seeing past his own navel.
