George HW Bush never said that and it did not appear in McClendon's newsletter as DailyKOS has claimed.

Had Bush made such a statement in 1992, as claimed, the main election issue would not have been whether it was the economy, stupid.

It is absurd to anyone who knows anything about politics of the era. Which apparently rules you out.
