And, that's OK... that you see people have a hard time dealing with it... as they're SEEING the essential underpinnings that enable them in believing the myths they do about their sacred cows evaporate... even as you see proofs that those sacred cows are being herded up by government goons and euthanized ? Many lawyers want to believe the law as an institution is intrinsically good... even when it isn't. Or they want to believe that the law is 'enough' when it is not. Today, the legal system (and profession) is FAR more corrupt than it has ever been in our history. In some places, the corruption is both deep and wide enough to make it hard for good people to practice without being subsumed by it. In other places, things aren't yet that bad. I do know lawyers who are not criminals. And, I know as many and more who are. But, the trend is clear enough... including that "the lawyers" as a group, even while the law as an institution is failing us (which it is)... want to NOT believe that. Some even want to force the law even deeper into trying to exercise control of everything... even things well outside of any legitimate practice, skill set, span of control, or legitimate role for the profession. Denial is the first stage. The cognitive dissonance makes some people mistake the message for the messenger... as has always been true in history. Probably also still people in Germany who don't believe the Holocaust occurred... only because they know Germans, Germans are good people, and they don't believe good people could do that ? Well, I believe those BLM employees (and even some lawyers) are mostly good people... "following orders" and not intending to undermine the First Amendment... but, I believe the ranchers are also good people, who actually know far more about what's going on than the BLM employees or the lawyers. They also have the greater relative benefit of living inside an American institution (which neither government workers nor the lawyers can claim) that produces and requires solid ethics for success. They have the courage of their convictions, knowing they are in the right... while the BLM guys and lawyers are working for paychecks, and while many probably agree with the ranchers... they don't care that much who is right, or who gets squashed, as long as it is not them... while others, like much of the public, are as numbed by the mainstream media as any others working for pay checks... instead of grappling daily with the octopus the government has become. It's not about me... which is why I truly don't care about the name calling... or the effort to make it about me. I note his replies to my posts about facts and opinions, pointing out errors of fact in his... increasingly consisted of personal attacks ? I assume that means he doesn't spend much time in a courtroom ? Otherwise, he'd know that "tactic" is generally one first resorted to by the guy who is losing the argument... more about HIS emotion, not about any issues with the other guys reasoning ? I don't care how long anyone has been here... that appeal to authority doesn't determine who is right ? I don't care who here knows his character... or how long they have known him... or if he's a nice guy or not? If you can't admit it when you are wrong, and proven wrong... your own choices will say more about you than any appeal to others judgment ? And, that's always equally as true of anyone ? That lawyer just went down in flames, and isn't man enough to admit it ? I'm honored to be ignored by him. Two mouse clicks away from intellectual enlightenment... but the truth wasn't worth seeking ? Here's the Nevada page: dcnr.nv.gov Here's the BLM page: blm.gov Here's another: "Individuals granted vested or decreed water rights are not subject to the rules and regulations of the general permitting system." ehow.com Bundy's rights pre-date the establishment of the system... and that DOES matter... even if some ill-informed lawyer thinks it shouldn't. Still, the more typical response I get from my critics is that I'm a cold, calculating logic machine (because it really IS about the ideas, after all)... which makes them call me names for that instead of trying to argue against my logic. So, being called names for being "irrational and too emotional" by a guy losing the argument based on the facts and the logic... was quite funny... so I had to respond to it appreciatively... ?
