I'm not sure how it is a surprise to anyone; that is, after all, the point of "open enrollment". If insurance companies do give in, logical shoppers will ask, "Why bother? I'll get it when I need it." I damned well might choose to roll the dice myself if I knew I could get insurance when I got sick, taking my chances that it won't be an emergency. And I don't think I've gone a day without insurance since the early 70s.

The interesting thing will be whether they will report the number of insureds lost each month as a result of very little new coverage being issued while attrition continues. I can guarantee you right now that you will never hear the administration say, "Uh, we actually lost a few insureds this month." Even if it happens.

That's why they kept warning about a deadline coming up.......this is not news. I've had an annual signup period for decades....

So now that those that refused to sign have no insurance and see the millions that did sign up, they're whining........tough sh-t.....
