Rush Limbaugh joins ‘Shoe Truthers,’ says Hillary ‘staged’ footwear assault By David Edwards rawstory.com Tuesday, April 15, 2014 8:06 EDT A group of conservatives have said former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s people conspired to have a shoe thrown at her recently to gain public sympathy — and Rush Limbaugh became the movement’s most high-profile spokesperson on Monday. “I’ve got people telling me her reaction wasn’t natural,” the conservative host said of Clinton reaction to the shoe that was thrown at her in Las Vegas last week. “I haven’t cared enough to go try to find it. I really haven’t. Somebody threw a shoe at Hillary. Big whoop. Maybe it’s because in my subconscious I think it was staged or set up or whatever.” “Look, folks, I know these people so well that I do not attach much genuineness to them at all,” he added. But Limbaugh had blasted the media for not having enough “concern” over a similar incident when someone through a shoe at then-President George W. Bush. “Journalists loved it when the Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at George W. Bush,” he said in 2009. “They were disappointed it didn’t hit him.” And Limbaugh is just the latest conservative to jump on the “Shoe Truther” bandwagon. In a blog post earlier this week, Fox News pundit Bernard Goldberg argued that Clinton had “calculated it beforehand” because it was “almost always true” that she plotted such things. Conservatives had also accused Clinton of faking a blood clot near her brain in late 2012 to avoid testifying about a terrorist attack in Benghazi.
