So they are whacking gold to try and reduce demand to try and prevent a delivery problem. Because they know if there ever is a delivery problem that they may lose control of the price and possibly get the disorderly rise that they so fear. IE The gold whackings will continue until demand eases and GOFO improves or until the pending delivery problem is resolved in some creative way as has likely been done in the past or until the whole paper gold system implodes.
