harley--

thanks! it always helps to read things in plain english. i read an article recently in nature i think( it may have been a communications journal as well as i remember!) about getting around the distance problem by turning the signal into a maser, using higher power equipment.

does this sound right to anyone else, or am i pulling things totally out of context and not making any sense?

also, i had not heard of teligent, but i have been following teledesic. apparently, they are doing the same thing, only their base stations are in LEO. i think they are using 28GHz as well. that is going to be interesting.

good luck to all,
trey
