GTE

adsl shown was wstl radsl modem running communicator. gte guy says tarriffs will be set in jan 98 and residential deployment will begin in feb 98 with full deployment by q2 98 in gte local territory. Pricing is unknown till tarriffs are set but they know that it needs to be competitve.

BEL

same story on tarriffs and deployment timing. also using RADSL in thier booth. working on name for service. they seemed excited for q2 rollout in ENTIRE network.

ASND

anounced full support of DMT. bot license from alcatel. basicly bagged AWRE. This is good for ISP market.

michael: The GTE ILEC is delaying. The GTE CLEC has a 3 year deal with Westell. If you don't think ADSL will take off in that time period, you should sell your shares.

>> They will wait till they can make money and charge $50/mo per sub before they deploy and that's far far away. <<

BC is starting at $65 for 2.2Mbps service. New technologies start out expensive and drop in price over time. If you want 1.5Mbps ADSL service, you're going to initally pay $50-$100 to start.

>> I don't care how they phrase it, the much hyped GTE deal
turned out to be an apartment complex in Marina Del Ray
plain and simple. <<

The GTE CLEC will deploy in 16 areas in 1998. Were you expecting mass deployment from GTE starting in 4Q97? Westell's ramp starts in 1998....

...TeleChoice has been apprised that GTE plans to offer OnSite in 16 states total before EOY '98. Further information relayed to TeleChoice indicates that GTE has no plans to wait for DSLAM deployment...

>> ADSL and the RBOC's just is not happening. <<

There are ~60 vendors with ADSL equipment, but ADSL isn't going to happen. I disagree with your view.... until later.
