<...yawn...> Come on Duncan, is that the best you can do after the thrashing I gave you? LOL! And I thought you might have had some time to brush up on your lack of wit, after all those embarrassing times I had to publicly reveal your ignorance a couple months ago. Silly me! I was apparently over-estimating you by a significant margin. That's okay, you still manage to entertain me -- even if you don't provide much sport. Now, back to doughboy CSCO...no comment on the Data Comm RAS evaluation, I see. Hey -- I understand completely, CSCO had a truly shameful showing...its AS5300 "ASND-killer" failing to upstage the MAX TNT or Hyper TCH in even one segment. Well, just goes to prove that just because you're a gorilla weighing 800lbs of lard, doesn't mean jack in remote access gear performance. And lo and behold -- ASND will be announcing the new MAX TNT with triple the port density, come Jan/Feb. Let's run some quick technicals: The AS5300 can only support four T1/E1 interfaces vs 150 for the MAX TNT...meaning the AS5300 can only support 120 concurrent users vs 672 for the MAX TNT. With the new upgraded TNT in Q198, that becomes 2,016 users. Wow! 1,680% superior performance over CSCO's top offering. But then, what can you expect from the marshmallow-minded engineers at CSCO? ;o) Well no wonder UUNET announed a few months ago, it is integrating 170,000 digital modem ports based on the MAX TNT platform by this year's conclusion. As if there was any doubt? Ha! Let's not even bring up how CSCC is kicking Stratacom's ass up and down the street. But then again, inferior products receive inferior results. Routers and hubs are one thing, but sophisticated switching requires quality -- and unfortunately, CSCO lacks any progress in this area. Such a shame that CSCO's enormous obesity casts such an enormous shadow that competitors find themselves somewhat obscured from view in certain market segments. Being the fat-boy on the block does have its perks, no one can deny that! Are leaner times ahead? I think so! And CSCO shall feel the gluttoness excesses of market capitalization, begin to roll off it's bloated gut and the sweaty palms of its shareholders -- much to their chagrin. And they shall whine and moan even more, much to my amusement! ;o) Style Pts.
