NG is plentiful, and this the main reason that methane hydrates are not seriously exploited.

Big Oil is suppressing the commercialization of most NG discoveries via various political tactics. they play their own games and influence politicians and politics.

The Caspian basin has huge deposits so is East Africa, Northern Australia Eastern Mediterranean and even the Black Sea and the Arctic.

Methane hydrates deposit are renewable on the continental slopes and along the path of gulf stream but relatively very little is invested in extraction technologies.

This is another reason why the Kremlin panicked and took over crimea - they were foolish not assisting Cyprus only to support a murderous regime in Syria in hope to get access to NG and Tatrus and Latakia ports
