We had no emergency medical system before I wrote and implemented the state plan. Today we have one of the best EMS systems in the world. I did that in the mid 70's. If you got hurt they put you in a vehicle and hoped you made it. Today thousands of people are trained emergency medical technicians who can stabilize you on the spot and transportation means and routes to medical care are organized and set forth. And we had few alcohol and drug abuse programs in the state. And we have a very high problem with FAS. Now we have programs throughout the state. I wrote and administered them to evolve without me. I won't go into the Valdez oil spill.
