Why would that be a solution? Rs have shown us repeatedly they don't know how to govern. Having said that, CA dems are better but not by much.
The one thing that every Californian Republican understands is the law of supply and demand. Not every Democrat does. On the other hand, Republicans would be just as likely as Democrats to support the NIMBYs. Not only that, but Republicans would be less likely to care about the negative effects of gentrification.

Ultimately this is a problem that will not go away anytime soon.

That's why I feel that waiting for a bottom in this hyperactive real estate market is an exercise in folly. The fundamental imbalance between supply and demand will always be there. No one wants to increase the supply, and demand can only be killed by another "Great Recession," and even that would be temporary.
