The reality is that whether God exists as an entity or not, a lot of people are helped by faith through the most difficult times in their lives. I know a couple of atheists who would be better off if they could accept religion, for whatever it might be in their lives. The sterility of atheism may make some feel better in some way; but most of us face some times in our lives when we could benefit from spirituality in some form.
