Except that for much of its geologic past, Earth has not been especially "pristine" for human beings. We are adapted to roughly the last 10,000 years or so, but climate has varied enormously before then. And this has been a particularly stable period, according to ice cores and other evidence that geologists have (literally) dug up and analyzed.
