Really?? They are doing their yearend spending the budget right now. With demands for better and faster data services, that alone is going to drive the telco's to modernize. CLEC's maybe in a pinch, but not the ROBC's and LD companies.

As to ORCL figuring into the equation, there are minor. Frankly, ORCL is feeling a pinch from not only MSFT, but SAP and BAAN (true companies that are increasing corporate productivity and profitability). Even the vaunted MSFT is implementing SAP as we speak. SAP is also aggressive and attracting telco business. ORCL is being left for now high and dry.

I don't believe a word ORCL said. Maybe they spend too much energy on a 90s version of dumb terminals or maybe Larry spends too much on his collection of jet fighters.
