The docs' earnings data that I posted, from Medscape, seems to me more credible than what they have in the article that you posted.

I don't know if docs trained in Mohs surgery (that's what the lady in the story had on her face) make half a mil, but must say that is a rare skill, which requires years of additional training after the doc is already a skin surgeon. It takes many hours of resecting series of additional slices of skin around the cancer, and studying it under a microscope - to make sure that the edges are free of cancer. It is a far more sparing type of surgery than simply cutting out a large area around the lesion, and hope for the best. It's especially good for the face. Obviously, this lady opted for the far more expensive procedure.
