I think your impression is correct. Heard many such stories. I have a friend who is an excellent Internist, loves medicine - but, for some years now, he is trying to phase out general medicine. Tries to do more things like Botox, fillers, Suboxone management, etc. He had a busy medical practice, working 7 days a week, and could hardly make a living. Not only that, but you get harassed by every busybody little Napoleon in insurance companies, the government, etc. We get what we pay (and vote) for.
