Apples revenue is up roughly 4.25% quarter over quarter. Apple's stock price is up roughly 42% over last years price at this time.
A year ago DCM models were discounting 3-5 year declines in earnings and the multiple contracted to 9-10x earnings. This year, DCMs will eventually begin discounting 3-5 year high single/low double digit earnings growth and multiple expansion will drive share appreciation to all time share price highs (but not yet enterprise value highs).

Doren,

<<
It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. I'm not sure the quarter was so strong at a 4-5% increase in sales and a little bump in gross margin. Good but not superlative.

Still along with the buyback and the split I can see Apple hitting 100 by fall. Cook's economic strategies seem solid. However we still don't know about Ive and the design shake up. The the product announcements will be dangerous...>>

Looks like things are opening down across the board this morning. Not sure it has much to do with Apple but more over general economic concerns.

The percentage growth at Apple wasn't so strong except relative to expectations and I think that is why the stock is up so strongly over where it was a year ago. I think people were not sure that Apple could have any growth and now we are looking at better margins with some growth. Makes things seem a lot brighter for Apple in the coming quarters, if they can keep things up.

New product announcements for Apple will always be dangerous, although if Apple does not come out with a bigger screen iPhone there will be a price to pay in the share price no matter how good or bad or innovative it would appear. When Apple comes out with a new product in a new category of product, it will be the first since Jobs. It will be interesting to see how Apple handles that and how the media responds. One thing can be guaranteed. A good portion of the media will say that the product is not innovative enough, another portion will say they won't buy one and it won't sell and the android crowd will say that Apple copied it from Android, whether that is true or not.

I will say this part again because I have not seen it mentioned much, or at all, in the media. For me, one of the biggest things listening to the CC is the confidence that I heard in Cook. It was the best he has sounded. While I know he had better news to give and it is easier to be confident giving good news over mediocre to bad news, I am hoping this new found confidence may be a harbinger of the good things that Apple will have to offer over the rest of the calendar year. I am hoping to be right about this.

Good luck out there.
