MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jul 2, 2014) - Richmont Mines Inc. (TSX:RIC)(NYSE MKT:RIC), ("Richmont" or the "Corporation"), announces that Mr. Paul Carmel, Richmont's President and Chief Executive Officer, has been relieved of his duties with the Corporation effective immediately. Ms. Elaine Ellingham has been appointed interim President and CEO.

The Board expresses its appreciation to Mr. Carmel for his service to the Corporation over the past two years and wishes him success in his future endeavours.

Ms. Ellingham, the interim President and CEO, has served on Richmont's Board of Directors for the past four years and is a mining executive and a professional geologist with over 25 years' experience in the mining industry. She has held senior positions at a number of mining companies as well as at the Toronto Stock Exchange. Ms. Ellingham said "I look forward to working closely with our management team, to further optimize and develop our mining operations in Ontario and Quebec. We remain focused on developing our cornerstone asset, Island Gold Deep, a million ounce gold resource recently accessed by development ramp beneath our Island Gold Mine in Ontario.
