Apple could find enough money in the cushions of the chairs at 1 Infinite Loop to pay that kind of money.

It's a slap on the wrist, just like the e-book price fixing settlement will prove to be – despite the righteous indignation of a person or two on this thread.

$81 million is about 13.5 hours of work for Apple based on a back of the envelope calculation of last quarter's FCF generation. It is not even a blip on the radar. People have a very difficult time comprehending what Apple does.

That settlement is a huge disappointment for the trolls.

It must have been an extremely weak case to have settled for $300M when plaintiffs were claiming $3B. They settled for 10 cents on the dollar.
It's going to rank right up there with the Beatles settlement in terms of troll disappointment.
