When I drove up the 1 all the way up the coast of CA, I encountered a gas station-restaurant at a particularly remote section. I ate at the restaurant, where I noticed the menus had no prices. I found out why when I left - they charged me $15 for a burger and fries with a coke! I also needed gas, so I HAD to gas up at the station, where they were charging $5 for a gallon. This was when ordinary prices were about $2.50. I just got enough to get me to the next town.

Ted,
It was on the NBC News several times during the year............they would show a gas sign from CA showing $5 per gallon
That station made news because it was an exception. Come on, 40 miles south of Big Sur? That's pretty far from civilization.

When was the last time you were in California, Ted? You really need to be more skeptical of what you read on the web.
