I think the purpose of corporate-produced news isn't to inform us, it's to present us with an endless stream of distracting shiny items, so we WON'T think deep and long. In that regard, they're all equally guilty, Fox, MSNBC, CNN - they just pander to different audiences. Since I cut my cable and went entirely internet provided TV, I don't get any news from them at all. Other than where it's mentioned on the Daily Show or on the internet, I hadn't heard of the plane. I'm pretty out of touch and liking it.
