Tom; RE:" Shorting CALLs vs Buying PUTs "

Thank you for your interesting and informative response, Tom Trader.

Of course! {grin} when one wants to buy-to-close at a lower price, it makes perfect sense to take advantage of the decay in time value. Very clever, indeed.

I have learned a great deal from you and the many other experienced traders here, and had fun doing so. Although I've been hanging around SI for some years, I never participated in the threads much before - and gotten to know the regulars, until this year.

Trading is a stressful endeavour, and it's good to have cyberfriends to share the stress and success with (^_^)

Another fellow, named "Berney", who hangs out on the little INTEL TRADER thread, is an investment/tax accountant and totally into F/A. He has suggested a classic buy-and-hold portfolio for the long-term investor, which has been intersting to watch. Here are the components:

BNE - Browne & Co
BSC - Bear Stearns
CON - Continental Homes
DELL - Dell Computer
INTC - Intel
JEF - Jefferies Group
KDN - Kaydon Corp
RJF - Raymond James
ROBN - Robbins & Meyers
ROST - Ross Stores

Best regards, Steve
