Actually, that's exactly what would have happened. The parts and components manufacturers would have gone out of business if they had only Ford to sell to, and without parts and components, no cars would be made. The collapse of the entire auto industry would have caused the Bush Great Recession to become the Bush Great Depression, as domestic car dealerships all folded nationwide and all the attendant related businesses..
