Bob,
I thought the "reinvest in a new home of same or higher value" capital gains avoidance went away years ago. Now there is a $250k exclusion ($500k married filing jointly) applied to capital gains on personal residence sales, regardless of what you do with the proceeds. Am I remembering wrong?
