Ah, CSCO did exactly that and the only ones who got screwed were those who bailed. I think it's a bit naive not to believe that happens and you saw a MSFT attempt that not that long ago. Now, you may not consider an announcement like We believe the stock price is too high to be talking it down but others would disagree. Stock options have to be purchased and there's no reason to believe that the strong companies want their stock to hit an all-time high with nowhere to go but sideways or down for the foreseeable future. That isn't a problem most companies will ever have to deal with.
