Yes Andrew, I just saw that downgrade notice myself. Imagine that -- the DAY AFTER the downgrade from Merrill. Gee --- I guess great minds think alike.

I also notice that Veeco was ripped apart today (down 6 7/8 or 26%); a stock which was also downgraded by PaineWebber (Gunnar Miller) the same time that UTEK was downgraded. However, about TWO HOURS AFTER the VECO downgrade, that company came out with a "pre-release announcement" that it would miss 4th quarter "street estimate" of $0.49 by 4 to 9 cents. Now that IS interesting timing! (I'll try not to get too cynical here.)

Could this explain the terrible reaction by UTEK to the downgrade? Does the market fear that UTEK announcement is right around the corner? Note also that VECO was included along with UTEK in the Thursday Merrill downgrade. I also note that UTEK didn't really fall very much until AFTER the VECO press release.

Maybe this helps explain the UTEK price action. However, I will be deeply hurt and disappointed if it should turn out that the analysts have better access than do shareholders in general to FACTUAL INFORMATION that relates to the companies we all know and love.

Better luck to all on Monday.
