I've been doing vi forever, I use it often enough that I can do simple stuff quick. But mostly I use gedit. It's been around for years. It's a simple screen editor. Never bothered with nano. For code editing I would love to get a working version of crisp. I had a uex license, but don't want to pay for an upgrade to get u13.10 campatible I usually do not like kde apps, but the kate editor is a really nice code editor the colors the text. understands shell scripts. And it seems to work on my fvwm2 window manager running on ubuntu 13.10
