“Star-Studded” ObamaCare Celebration Features No Stars
.......................................................................................................
May 4, 2014 by Daniel Greenfield 9 Comments

Politico is reporting that the ObamaCare celebration was a star-studded event.

Even in the imaginary universe that the left’s media corps permanently resides in, in which Barack Obama is a genius, Michelle Obama is the most beautiful woman in America and ObamaCare is wildly popular, this is a star-studded event with no stars.

It had less stars than most Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

President Barack Obama celebrated the completion of the first open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act with a star-studded reception at the White House on Thursday.

“Nashville” actress Connie Britton, former “Blossom” star and current “The Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik and Bill Nye the Science Guy were among those on hand, as were Vice President Joe Biden, departing Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and other Cabinet members.

See stars such as…. Bill Nye the Science Guy, Joe Biden and Mayim Bialik. But wait the star-studded cast also included mega-celebs like…

Other celebrities on hand included Adam Scott of “Parks and Recreation,” actor and former White House staffer Kal Penn and actress Aisha Tyler. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and Labor Secretary Tom Perez also attended.

Obama used to be able to draw top music and movie stars. Now all he could get was a bunch of people who appear somewhere on television. They’re not, for the most part, the stars of anything.

Most of them are sidekicks. Which seems appropriate.

So what went wrong? Why couldn’t Katy Perry or George Clooney make it? Because they might be moonbats but even they don’t want to be associated with the ObamaCare Party.

Just like no network wanted to air it.

With limited exceptions, stars have largely failed to participate in a substantial ad campaign to promote Obama-Care’s new coverage options.

To date, the only noteworthy celebrities appearing on behalf of ObamaCare in national ads are retired NBA players Magic Johnson and Alonzo Mourning, who left professional basketball in 1991 and 2009, respectively.

And no, Magic didn’t show up to this clown show. He was too busy giving his 20th interview whining about Sterling.

Contrary to expectations, the White House’s A-list backers have mainly stuck to Twitter to voice support for ObamaCare, while others have appeared in inexpensive online videos, or chosen to promote California’s insurance marketplace instead of HealthCare.gov, the notoriously troubled website for the federal exchanges.

It seems that not even the president’s most fervent and committed supporters want to get too close to ObamaCare. Some of Obama’s most powerful allies — figures including Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen and Beyoncé — have stayed in the wings for the enrollment push.

Why put themselves out on the line when they can just let their assistants tweet #GetCovered so they still get invited to White House parties.

So instead the ObamaCare celebration had to settle for Adam Scott, who was also one of the few celebs to show up to the Demand a Plan event.

Basically if you put food out, Adam Scott will show up at your house.

He’s clearly not picky.

Kal Penn will show up everywhere Obama goes for reasons best left unexplored. And Mayim Bialik is what happens when no other member of the cast of Big Bang Theory will show up to your event.

Can’t get the Indian guy? Uh okay. How about Mayim. She’ll need a ride though.

But who needs stars when you’ve got Kathleen Sebelius?

Obama also offered a shoutout to the people who worked on HealthCare.gov and other technical aspects, leading a “tech team! tech team!” chant.

It was either that or “$800 million down the hole”.

Local officials including Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Kansas City, Kansas Mayor Mark Holland attended, as did a small contingent of ACA supporters from Texas, including state Sen. Garnet Coleman and Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.

So this was basically the saddest party ever.

Two Arrested in 100-year-old Veteran Robbery

.................................................................................
May 28, 2014
ktvn.com

Robert Michael Hernandez,

Jordan Randall Burkhart

The Carson City Sheriff's Office has two men behind bars who allegedly robbed a 100-year-old veteran at his home over Memorial Day weekend.

According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, 27-year-old Robert Michael Hernandez or Carson City and 25-year-old Jordan Randall Burkhart, of Wellington, were arrested Wednesday.

Sheriff Furlong says around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies responded to a report of a home invasion and robbery at a home on Canvasback Drive. They say the victim, James Sorrentino, is a 100-year-old Army Air Corp and U.S. Air Force veteran. He was at home with a woman who is his in-residence care-giver when the robbery happened.

Authorities say the Hernandez and Burkhart forced their way into the home by kicking and prying at the door. Once inside, they say one of the men held a gun to the care-giver's head, ransacked the house and fled. Fortunately neither victim was injured during the attack but authorities say the men stole about $30 in cash and other miscellaneous property.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested Burkhart for probation violation and were later able to obtain an arrest warrant for him and Hernandez related to the home invasion.

Officers with the Carson City Special Enforcement Team, had been searching for Hernandez in the Reno-Sparks area. They found him in his own vehicle around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday night. They say he tried to run through a residential area, but was later taken into custody by Sparks Police Officers.

Both men are charged with several robbery and gun related charges. Bail was set at $250,000 each.

VA Chaplain: Gov’t Made Me Hide Crosses and Pictures of Jesus, Banned Me From Reading Bible Aloud

Independent Journal Review ^ | June 2 2014 | Emily Hulsey

In the wake of the ever-growing VA scandal, actions at the Iron Mountain VA Hospital in Michigan may not have gotten quite as much press as many feel they should.

Patsy Norton, when walking into Iron Mountain’s VA chapel, was appalled to find every sign of Christianity hidden from sight. She detailed her shock in this letter, published by Joe For America:

May 30, 2014 The Daily News

EDITOR:

I went to the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain today on business. While there I stopped at the Chapel and found pinky-purple curtains with mesh at the top, covering the altar. (You know the type. They use them between sick patients in the hospital).

I stopped in my tracks, shocked at what I saw. I peeked behind the curtain, and found what used to be the welcoming part of the chapel, the Cross, a picture of Jesus, and other Christian icons familiar to the majority of Americans.

I found Chaplain Bob Mueller, to ask what the meaning was of this change. This is what he told me. “A couple of months ago, an order came down from Washington DC to cover all things associated with Christianity in the VA. Their solution is to cover everything in all the VA Chapels across the country.”

Norton also said that the chaplain was told to “stop talking about Jesus, and to stop reading Scripture out loud.”

The repression of Christianity isn’t limited to Iron Mountain, but has been reported in VA facilities all over the country:

Last Christmas a group of Georgia high school students were given a list of government-approved carols to sing at a VA hospital in Augusta and a VA hospital in Texas refused to accept holiday cards that included the phrase, “Merry Christmas.”

Not only are these actions a symbol of religious intolerance, but they are another nail in the coffin, so to speak, of the state of the Veterans Administration.

Taking care of our veterans is one of our government’s utmost responsibilities. Limiting their religious freedoms and blocking them from medical care should not be tolerated.

Bergdahl was a deserter, and soldiers from his own unite died trying to track him down.
..............................................................................................................................................

By: John Hayward 6/3/2014
humanevents.com

Two days after President Obama broke the law to arrange an insanely reckless swap of five incredibly dangerous Taliban terrorists for captive American Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, virtually every aspect of the deal has blown up in Obama’s face, and the whole thing has soured into another five-star scandal for an Administration riddled with them.

Maybe it’s the accumulated weight of Obama fatigue, or the sheer stupidity and arrogance the President displayed in this particular abuse of power, but even people who stood by him through Fast and Furious, Benghazi, and the IRS scandal are asking: What the hell was he thinking? What did the White House think was going to happen here?

I think the Administration’s crucial error was expecting the military to shut up and let them write the story. That didn’t happen. Troops who served with Bergdahl have been speaking out, and they’re not mincing words. They’re especially angry about the lives lost in search missions conducted after Bergdahl walked away from his post. ”I was pissed of then, and I am even more so now with everything going on,” former Sgt. Matt Vierkant told CNN. ”Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war, and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him.”

“Any of us would have died for him while he was with us, and then for him to just leave us like that, it was a very big betrayal,” said former Sgt. Josh Korder, who CNN notes “has the names of three soldiers who died while searching for Bergdahl tattooed on his back.”

The wife of Army Master Sergeant Mark Allen, wounded in the search for Bergdahl and no longer able to speak, called Bergdahl a “traitor” on her Facebook page. The mother of 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews told the Army Times, “It gets really hurtful when I think, this guy was worth my son’s life? My son who was patriotic? Who was a true soldier? Who defended his country with his life? This guy was worth that? I don’t think so.”

Another soldier who was involved in the search, Nathan Bradley Bethea, wrote a column for the Daily Beast in which he declared, “He is safe, and now it is time to speak the truth. And that truth is: Bergdahl was a deserter, and soldiers from his own unite died trying to track him down.”

Bethea, along with some of the soldiers interviewed by CNN, say they were forced to sign non-disclosure agreements against disclosing information about Bergdahl’s capture or the rescue efforts… a highly unusual measure that the Examiner recalls was also employed after Benghazi.

An image of six soldiers who died searching for Bergdahl has been spreading across the Internet like wildfire:

Fox News reports the Pentagon is “reviewing” claims that all six of these men died during efforts to rescue Bergdahl, but it’s supposedly “impossible” to “confirm right now whether anybody’s death was directly linked to the hunt.” Really? There’s no way to instantly look up the details of the missions these six men died on, and confirm that one of the mission objectives involved rescuing Sgt. Bergdahl? Insulting the intelligence of the American people is only going to enrage them more – particularly the loved ones of the troops injured and killed on these missions, as quoted above – and it makes Team Obama’s incompetence swell to epic proportions. It never occurred to any of the teenagers who run this White House to do a little research in advance on the man they were proposing to trade five deadly terror masterminds for?

As Senator Ted Cruz pointed out, the lives lost in capturing the five Taliban officers who were traded for Bergdahl should also be added to the total. Cruz also said military force could have been used to rescue the captive American without giving up those Taliban leaders… a claim bolstered by new information pouring out of the Pentagon, as you’ll see in a moment.

As I said earlier, the Obamanoids clearly assumed the entire U.S. military apparatus would roll over for them and help sell their preferred political narrative. They didn’t bother with a lot of hard thinking about how difficult that narrative might be to sustain.

Twitchy reports that a White House petition drive to punish Bergdahl for desertion is under way. Not much chance of that, folks. It would end the Obama presidency, assuming some of the terrorists he just released haven’t pulled off fatal attacks on Americans and ended it already.

The White House narrative that Bergdahl was captured on the battlefield and served with distinction – lies peddled by none other than Benghazi mouthpiece Susan Rice on the Sunday shows – has completely collapsed. Literally no one believes that… inconveniently including the Pentagon, which the Washington Times reports has considered Bergdahl a deserter for years:

The Pentagon on several occasions had ground-level intelligence on where ArmySgt. Bowe Bergdahl was being held captive at various times — down to how many gunmen were guarding him — but special operations commanders repeatedly shelved rescue missions because they didn’t want to risk casualties for a man they believed to be a “deserter,” sources familiar with the mission plans said.

Commanders on the ground debated whether to pull the trigger on a rescue several times in recent years, according to one of the sources, a former high-level intelligence official in Afghanistan, who said the conclusion each time was that the prospect of losing highly trained troops was too high a price to pay for rescuing a soldier who walked away from his unit before being captured by the enemy.

In more recent times, special operations commanders apparently knew where Bergdahl was being held, but did not seek approval for a rescue mission because they knew a deal to obtain his release was under way. They wanted a much better deal than the ludicrous arrangement Obama struck, which special-ops officers were reportedly “appalled” by:

The aide said military officials in Afghanistan spent recent months pushing for a stronger deal than was ultimately struck, but were “superseded” by the White House and State Department. The aide would not comment on what the parameters of a “stronger” deal may have looked like, beyond saying they would have involved the Pakistani government.

The former intelligence official who spoke with The Times corroborated that assertion but declined to offer further details, saying only that the deal turned out the way it did because “the administration wanted to close the door on this no matter what the price was.”

Separately, the former official said, “Military commanders were loath to risk their people to save this guy. They were loath to pick him up and because of that hesitancy, we wind up trading five Taliban guys for him.

“The mentality was, ‘We’re not going to lose more of our own guys on this,” the former official said.

A Pentagon source quoted in the Washington Times piece says “I know for a fact that we lost soldiers looking for him,” which is going to make today’s absurd claims that the Pentagon can’t confirm or deny those fatalities blow up in the Administration’s face, just like every other aspect of this story has.

According to a bombshell report by James Rosen at Fox News, many in the intelligence community “harbor serious outstanding concerns not only that Bergdahl may have been a deserter but that he may have been an active collaborator with the enemy,” and have compiled a “major classified file” on him.

Bergdahl’s own writings are becoming public knowledge, and they sure don’t make trading five Taliban masterminds for his release look like a better deal. From the UK Daily Mail:

He buried himself in books about Zen meditation, the writings of Aristotle and a book called Three Cups Of Tea, about a crusade to educate girls in Afghanistan. He told a friend that if their first tour of duty in Afghanistan was ‘lame’, he was going to ‘walk off into the mountains of Pakistan’.

Members of his unit, part of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, say his manner became odder when they reached eastern Afghanistan’s remote Paktika region. ‘He spent more time with the Afghans than he did with his platoon,’ said a comrade.

He told some of them he wanted to walk to India. His father admitted to military investigators that his son became ‘psychologically isolated’.

In letters and emails home, Bergdahl made his disillusionment clear. ‘I feel ashamed to even be American,’ he wrote. ‘The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting.’

In an uncanny echo of [the television series] Homeland, Bergdahl was particularly affected by seeing an Afghan child fatally run over by a U.S. armoured vehicle.

‘We don’t even care when we hear each other talk about running their children down in the dirt streets with our armoured trucks,’ he complained in a final email sent three days before he disappeared. ‘I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.’

The Daily Mail mentions Taliban claims that Bergdahl had thrown in with his captors and was teaching them “how to make bombs and set ambushes,” claims which are probably addressed in that big classified file James Rosen wrote about. I certainly wouldn’t take anything the Taliban says at face value. I also wouldn’t spring five of their top commanders from Gitmo.

The accumulated weight of these revelations – combined with the illegal means Obama used to make the deal, criticized as such by a growing number of legal analysts, including liberals Jonathan Turley and Jeffrey Toobin – and the harrowing danger represented by releasing those five terrorist big shots, have combined to make this a “perfect storm” scandal for the Administration… whose ham-fisted efforts at spin control are making things worse by the hour.

They doubled down by pushing false narratives about Bergdahl that have only served to infuriate critics. Obama, apparently under the delusion that his media allies have erased Benghazi from the public mind, is trying to make tough-guy statements about how he’ll leave no one behind… the last remnants of his original political strategy, which involved setting a bear trap for Republicans by making a crazy illegal deal, and slandering them as unpatriotic and unconcerned about the welfare of American troops when they objected.

And when the slimeballs Obama released claim their next victims, the other shoe is really going to drop. The best reason to hope they won’t reappear in the Afghan theater any time soon is that the Taliban wants to keep Barack Obama in office, and they know a massive terror attack featuring any of guys they just got back from him would finish him off. That isn’t stopping them from doing touchdown shuffles all over their benighted land, celebrating their victory over Obama, and the way the White House has legitimized them as a valid government by striking this deal with them. From NBC News:

The Afghan Taliban are celebrating the release of their five top commanders — who were swapped in exchange for American Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl after being held in Guantanamo Bay for 12 years — serving their guests with sweets and goats cooked in rice.

“This is a historic moment for us. Today our enemy (for the) first time officially recognized our status. I can’t explain how our people are happy and excited over this unbelievable achievement. Today we reached our destination,” a senior member of the Afghan Taliban told NBC News exclusively from a hideout in Afghanistan.

[...] He said the release of the top five commanders was great news that spread like wildfire among their fighters.

“Our leader Mullah Mohammad Omar, after a long time, heard a very good news. He is so happy and anxiously waiting to see his senior commanders,” the Taliban commander said.

Omar on Sunday released a rare statement calling the prisoner exchange a “great victory” for the Taliban.

According to the commander who spoke to NBC News, the release of Mulla Fazal Akhund, Noorullah Noori, Abdul Haq Waseeq, Khairullah Khairkhwa and Mohammad Nabi will boost the morale of their fighters.

“Once we confirmed the arrival of our five heroes back in Qatar, celebrations started everywhere in Afghanistan and the neighboring Pakistan. It’s nonstop. The guests were first served with sweets and green tea but now there are official celebrations on behalf of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (official name for the Afghan Taliban),” he said.

Back in the United States, hearings on the newest Obama scandal already been announced by the House Armed Services Committee, and there is word the Senate may follow suit.

It is good to have any missing American home… but it matters if the President’s actions in securing his release were legal, what price was paid for him, and how he became a captive in the first place. Evidently Team Obama thought all of those considerations were either irrelevant, or bait for the political bear trap they were trying to set for Republicans. If one of Obama’s objectives was to knock the VA scandal out of the news… mission accomplished, I guess.

Update: And this isn’t just an Obama scandal, as Benghazi Clinton has now become directly involved. Jake Tapper of CNN wonders if Obama was briefing her about the Bergdahl swap, getting their political narratives in harmony, even as he was breaking the law to avoid notifying Congress.

Update: One reason this scandal is turning into a mushroom cloud so quickly is that all of the Obama talking points were written to cast objections as nothing but ankle-biting from Republicans…

but military personnel and their families have been among the first and strongest critics.

That leaves Obama’s talking-points robots dispensing obsolete political snipes that hit the military community like insulting slaps to the face, sound irrelevant to those who have tough questions about the wisdom of letting those Gitmo detainees go, and pique the interest of reporters who can clearly see the Administration’s stories don’t line up.

Even torpid media sharks who prefer not to bite Barack Obama can’t doze off when there’s this much blood in the water.

Arctic sea-ice extent to increase this year, says meteorologist

People who tell you that Arctic sea-ice extent is controlled by CO2 are lying, says meteorologist Joe Bastardi.

Arctic sea-ice extent is controlled by is the Atlantic multidecadal oscillation (AMO), not CO2, says Joe.

It’s a cycle, in other words.

And because of that cycle, Joe expects Arctic sea-ice extent to increase this year.

Why? Because the AMO is making it colder.

This also happened in the 1990s when the AMO flipped from warm to cold, says Joe. And around 2020, the AMO will flip permanently to cold. (I’m not sure how long he means when he says “permanently.”)

Antarctic ice extent way above normal

Meanwhile, Antarctic ice extent is way above normal, Joe adds.

    No super El Niño?

And how about the super El Niño that’s been touted in all the forecasts?

Joe thinks it’s all hype. He doesn’t see s super El Niño developing. He thinks the cold Southern Pacific will cut the feet out from under it.

    It’s a cycle. It’s a cycle. It’s a cycle.

And finally, Joe believes that natural cycles in the Pacific Ocean cause our droughts, not CO2. (I’ve been saying for years that humans have nothing to do with it. It’s a cycle. It’s a cycle. It’s a cycle.)

    Data being manipulated

Listen to Joe’s weekly summary (link below). Just after the 14-minute mark you’ll see how the data is being manipulated.

Data for previous years has been “adjusted” to make those years appear colder than they really were, while data for more recent years has been “adjusted” to make them appear warmer than they really were.

And – presto! – just like magic – you’ve got a phony warming trend.

Endangered Bird Forces Duxbury To Cancel 4th Of July Celebration

DUXBURY (CBS) – The town of Duxbury has cancelled what was an annual 4th of July beach bonfire celebration.

The endangered piping plover bird has moved-in and there are at least 24 nests on Duxbury Beach. There are large areas of the beach that are restricted. The town’s July 4th committee said usually a couple thousand people attend the celebration and there is no way to ensure the nests will not get trampled, so the bonfire is cancelled.

“The plovers are federally protected. We have to follow the law,” said Margaret Kearney, Duxbury 4th of July activities committee

This is the 2nd year the plover’s presence cancelled the party. Last year, 17 nests were on the beach.

“They tend to come back to the siame area and every year they hope to grow or maintain the population,” said Missy Battista, co-manager of Duxbury Beach.

In 2013, the committee moved the bonfire to another location, but there was little interest.

Most Duxbury residents said they understand the need to cancel the bonfire for the bird. Since the birds return every year, the committee said next year they’ll consider a new tradition of having the beach bonfire at another time.

    How Can Anyone Trust Obama?
    ...................................................................................
    Townhall.com ^ | July 1, 2014 | David Limbaugh

Do you remember what President Obama initially said about the Internal Revenue Service scandal? Do you recall his professed outrage?

Obama wanted us to know how furious he was. He said, "The misconduct that (the inspector general's report) uncovered is inexcusable." "It's inexcusable," he repeated, "and Americans are right to be angry about it, and I am angry about it. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency -- but especially in the IRS, given the power that it has and the reach that it has into all of our lives."

He declared that the "responsible parties" would be held "accountable." He reported that Treasury Secretary Jack Lew "took the first step by requesting -- and accepting -- the resignation of the acting commissioner of the IRS (Steven Miller) because given the controversy surrounding this audit, it's important to institute new leadership that can help restore confidence going forward." He said he had directed the agency to implement recommendations from the inspector general to ensure that this outrageous conduct would not be repeated.

Please don't snicker at this, but Obama also promised that his administration would work "hand in hand with Congress to get this thing fixed."

Be advised that he was reading from a prepared statement, which means he wasn't shooting from the hip and said precisely what he intended to say.

What has he done since? Let's just look at a few developments.

Former IRS official Lois Lerner has twice invoked her Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination to avoid answering congressional questions. Just recently, her lawyer said she did so to avoid congressional bullying. I guess I was not in class the day my law school professor informed us that "fear of congressional bullying" is a legitimate basis on which to assert the privilege.

In January, we learned that the Justice Department selected Barbara Kay Bosserman, a strong political supporter of Obama's and contributor to him, to lead the criminal probe into the scandal. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter complaining, "The Department has created a startling conflict of interest."

In March, Rep. Dave Camp, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said Obama had reneged on his promise to have his aides cooperate with the investigation, forcing the committee to conduct a dragnet for emails and documents needed to uncover the truth. He said federal agents conducting the investigation hadn't talked to a single target of the IRS at that point.

The IRS promised to turn over all its emails and then, more than a year after it discovered they were missing, said it had lost emails because of crashed hard drives. There was not just one crashed hard drive; there were six or seven. And the lost emails "coincidentally" covered the very period the targeting went on. During this same period, the IRS reconfigured its backup system and deleted its backups of the pertinent emails. Hardly anyone outside of Obama's and Harry Reid's families is buying this complex fable. Polls show that 76 percent of Americans believe that the emails were deliberately deleted.

All of this makes me wonder what could be so incriminating on these emails that Lerner and her cronies would prefer having three-fourths of the country believe they deliberately destroyed the evidence over disclosing what was on the emails.

Just as troubling are Obama's subsequent statements about the scandal. Far from still being "angry" (as if he ever was), he told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly that there was "not even a smidgen of corruption" in the IRS affair. He even denied that the IRS had targeted conservative groups for political purposes. "That's not what happened," he said. Instead, IRS officials were confused about how to implement the law governing tax-exempt groups. "There were some boneheaded decisions."

One of the most damning revelations surfaced just last week, and it's surprising more isn't being made of it. We discovered that Lerner had received an invitation addressed to Sen. Chuck Grassley and personally ordered an audit based on it. This is an abuse of power on a scale we've rarely seen.

There is much more, but this is enough to make what I'm going to tell you next an unmitigated outrage.

What's that? It's that Obama, just last week, pranced to the microphone to accuse Congress of making all this up for political reasons. He said these allegations involved only "Washington fights" and "fabricated issues. They're phony scandals that are generated. It's all geared towards the next election or ginning up a base; it's not on the level."

Opportunistically pivoting from "outrage" to "phony scandals" would have been bad enough if no additional incriminating facts had been uncovered between his polar-opposite statements, but almost everything we learned in the interim points to far worse corruption, not less.

How does anyone believe anything Obama says anymore, except when he boasts that he's going to advance his liberal agenda lawlessly, without Congress, which he did again last week?

Obama once quipped to French President Francois Hollande, "That's the good thing about being president; I can do whatever I want."

    People thought he was joking.

Allegedly Stolen Tesla Involved in Police Pursuit Crashes Into Cars, Splits in Half in WeHo; Multiple People Injured

July 4, 2014, by Tracy Bloom and Eric Spillman,

An allegedly stolen Tesla involved in a fiery crash split into two following a police pursuit that ended in West Hollywood early Friday, leaving several people injured, authorities said.

The incident began when police received a call from a Tesla dealership stating that an individual was “tampering or messing with” one of the vehicles, according to Sgt. Campbell with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division.

Officers responded to the dealership and a pursuit began at about 12:45 a.m., Campbell said.

During the pursuit, the Tesla reached speeds of up to 100 mph, according to Campbell.

The pursuit ended on La Brea Avenue between Fountain and Lexington avenues a short time later when the driver of the Tesla hit two other cars and a lamp post, Campbell said.

A witness told KTLA that the Tesla hit a pole, got cut in half and that part of it landed on top of a white car.

“There were fires after that that broke out,” he said. “I saw the firefighters — like 25 firefighters – standing around the white car with the Jaws of Life.”

At some point, he said, explosions could be heard.

“We originally thought it was fireworks, everybody thought it was fireworks that were just exploding,” the witness said.

Video from the scene showed the Tesla was split in half, and a portion of the vehicle appeared to have crashed into a building at the corner of the street. The other half of the vehicle remained in the roadway.

Several cars sustained damages, according to the video, and multiple people could be seen on stretchers being loaded into ambulances.

One of the cars, a Honda Civic, had 5 people inside when the Tesla slammed into it. At least one person in the car was critically injured, according to Campbell.

Three other people in the car were also injured. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The person driving the Tesla suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, Campbell said.

Two LAPD officers were injured during the pursuit when their vehicle hit the center divider, according to LAPD officer Borihanh.

The officers complained of pain and were taken to a local hospital, Borihanh said, adding that the were released with no injuries.

La Brea was closed in the area in both directions until further notice, according to Lt. McGauley with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station.

    The crash was under investigation.

IRS Documents Given to Soros and Gorelick (another wrinkle in IRS targeting scandal)

    ...................................................

    American Journal ^ | 7-10-2014 | Declan Finn
4 IRS Documents Given to Soros and Gorelick

We know the IRS has leaked documents about donor lists to left-wing groups; after all, they confessed.

In May 2013, they admitted that groups with “tea party” or “patriots” in their names were flagged for extra IRS review. People were questioned the content of their prayers, and if they would promise not to protest Planned Parenthood.

What could make this worse? If the IRS gave these documents to a left-wing organization as a part of the process.

Enter the Darth Vader of the conservative world, George Soros.

    From WND:

WASHINGTON – Though President Obama insists the Internal Revenue Service is not guilty of the political targeting of nonprofits, WND has learned the agency contracts with an avowedly “progressive” organization supported by George Soros to process data filed by smaller tax-exempt groups. The federal agency process sends details contained in the annual filings for organizations with $50,000 in annual receipts or less to the Urban Institute, which is funded at least partly by government payments as well as contributions from far-left activist George Soros. The IRS page directs groups to file with the Urban Institute, although apparently other providers also can file the Form 990 documentation, which is required of every nonprofit, small and large. The IRS.gov page on the “Annual Electronic Filing Requirement for Small Exempt Organizations – Form 990-N (e-Postcard)” includes instructions to file online, and includes a direct link to the Urban Institute. [emphasis added.]

Pardon me, but my brain just hurt at how deep this particular rabbit hole just dropped. ”Hi, if you want your tax exempt status, give your documents to Soros, and hope that you’re not on his s*** list.” Because nothing can go wrong that way. And there’s no way out of this. None. These folks are required to submit this form, or lose tax-exempt status. There’s not even a paper form to avoid going through the UI site.

Heck, the link is on the IRS page, taking you away from the IRS and to “our trusted partner,” the Urban Institute.

UI doesn’t even pretend to be a neutral party.

The supposedly “nonpartisan” organization’s employees have a record of donating nearly 100 percent of their political contributions to Democrats, and officially, the Urban Institute advocates for totally socialized medicine, carbon taxes and amnesty for illegal aliens. And UI’s president, Sarah Rosen Wartell, is the co-founder of the Center for American Progress, widely considered ground zero for the development of many of the Obama administration’s progressive policies….Even the Los Angeles Times has unabashedly labeled the Urban Institute a “leading liberal think tank.”

Quite literally, every last penny that UI gets goes to a Democrat. Not middle of the road, not right, not third party, to the left and only the left. Forever to the left, never ever to the right. Ever penny that their employeesgive only goes to left-wing groups.

How did these people get into the business?

The Urban Institute got into the tax forms with the help of the IRS, which turned over documentation from 200,000 nonprofits from the American Cancer Society to the Heritage Foundation so a database could be created.

That’s just … Great. Isn’t it? Let’s make a database, so we know who gave what to whom. I wonder if we can figure out people’s beliefs based on what they give money to, then target the individuals.

There’s no possible way this can get worse. None. At all. Period. End sentence. There would have to be an order written in blood from Obama, or a certified political apparatchik up to their elbows in this. Thankfully, it’s not that bad yet. Look down the people involved with UI. The big donor is Soros, the vice chairwoman of their Board of Trustees is Jamie Gorelick…

Jamie Gorelick, of the Black Lagoon

Oh, frack me. Gorelick? Again? Why the hell hasn’t anyone forced this creature of darkness back into the crypt from which she came? If she isn’t considered a bad luck charm by now, someone isn’t paying attention.

For those of you who don’t remember Jamie Gorelick, sshe’s a former Clintonista, creator of the wall put up between the FBI and the CIA, usually credited as part of the reason 9-11 happened. She was on the ground during the Branch Davidian train wreck in Waco, investigated the explosion of TWA Flight 800, she repped BP after the oil spill in the Gulf, and now she’s in the eye of the storm on the IRS scandal.

Looking over their governing board feels like old home week, with people who are connected to Clinton, Obama, or Democrats at large. How does one not see this and thing “Massive left-wing conspiracy”?

These are the people who were given non-profit forms? This is like giving Planned Parenthood tax returns to Pat Robertson, or Richard Dawkins’ tax returns to the Catholic church. While we’re at it, why don’t we give Microsoft’s tax forms to Apple? Or Amazon’s to Barnes and Nobles? It isn't done.

This is such garbage. What is the IRS doing outsourcing their documents to other people in the first place? They are all but putting people’s lives into the hands of whatever random schmuck is assigned this. I’m not surprised there were leaks. In fact, I’m surprised there haven’t been more leaks. To which the answer can only be “give it time.”

Now that we know who’s behind the processing, one can only speculate how far down the rest of this rabbit hole goes. Possibly, straight to hell.

Arrest made in beating death of Port Jervis man --more black on white
    ............................................................................................
Times Herald Record (Middletown, NY) ^ | 11/11/14 | Heather Yakin

GOSHEN – Most of Port Jervis and much of the Tri-State area knew Josef Kucher.

A cobbler in the Old World tradition of his native Austria, the 77-year-old was a proud U.S. citizen and military veteran, a long-time presence in the downtown business district, an usher at St. Mary’s Church. He was, Port Jervis police Chief William Worden and Mayor Kelly Decker said Monday at a press conference to announce an arrest in his slaying, a fixture in the community, a good man.

Josef Kucher's wife, Hannelore Kucher, spoke briefly on Monday at her home. "I have no words for this senseless killing. I'm devastated," she said. "My husband was going to retire, and we were looking forward to it." The whole family is grieving, she said. "Just to think of what he had to go through at the hands of this killer."

Police announced on Monday that second-degree murder charges have been filed against 29-year-old Dennis McBee of Port Jervis in Kucher’s death. Police said the motive was robbery.

Kucher, who was born in Austria in 1937, moved to Port Jervis in the late 1960s with his wife, Hannelore. He opened his own shop in Port Jervis in 1974, starting on Jersey Avenue and later moving to Front Street. Although he'd talked about retiring as long ago as 2000, the shop was still open. The Kuchers' oldest son, Joseph, was killed in 1995 by a drunk driver in Montague Township, N.J. Their younger son, Michael, lived in Port Jervis with his wife and their kids.

Josef Kucher was found about 10:40 a.m. Friday inside his store, Kucher's Shoe Repair & Orthopedic. A customer found him bleeding from the face and head. The customer and the owner of a neighboring business attended to Kucher until Port Jervis Ambulance and police arrived. He died Saturday from his injuries.

By then, an investigative team made up of Port Jervis and New York State Police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office had, with the help of the community, identified McBee and tracked him down to a motel in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Wilkes-Barre police charged him with a violation of felony probation for a Pike County, Pa., forgery conviction. Port Jervis police interviewed him in Wilkes-Barre and filed a felony complaint in Port Jervis City Court charging him with second-degree murder. A warrant has been lodged with Luzerne County, Pa., Correctional Facility, where McBee is being held.

The article refuses to identify in plain English that the perp is a black man. Even though there is a picture right there of him! There is an anti-white hatekill going on in America of incredible proportion commiserated by the feds, by local law enforcement, by the media. Who all keep trying to deny it, hide it, ignore it, play it down. Yeah right——all these attacks on whites by blacks are for “economic reasons”. No racist or hate crime basis for the motivation is EVER found.

    Jonathan Gruber: Obamacare Architect, Unplugged
    ......................................................................................................
    Townhall.com ^ | November 20, 2014 | Larry Elder

Economist Milton Freeman said the promotion of bad policy requires two types of advocates. "Do-gooders," he said, act in good faith but out of ignorance in promoting counterproductive policies. The second type are the "special interest" rent-seekers, those who stand to personally profit from the scheme.

For economist Jonathan Gruber, the primary architect and intellectual godfather of Obamacare, we need a new category. Gruber is a two-fer -- both a do-gooder and a rent-seeker. Gruber, so far, has pocketed $6 million advising the federal and state governments on the very law he helped design.

Gruber on cost controls: "Cost control turns out to be very, very hard to do. Probably the single biggest frustration I have with critics of this law are people who say it didn't go far enough. ... We do not solve our cost problem in health care in the U.S. with this legislation. We simply do not, OK? But you know what? That's because it was impossible to do so."

Gruber, in 2012, admitting that Obamacare was intentionally designed so that only enrollees in state-run exchanges -- not the one run by the feds -- receive subsides and tax credits (a matter the Supreme Court will soon decide): "I think what's important to remember politically about this, is if you're a state and you don't set up an exchange, that means your citizens don't get their tax credits."

Gruber, in 2013, on voter stupidity: "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, you know, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever. ... Look, I wish ... that we could make it all transparent, but I'd rather have this law than not. ... Yeah, there are things I wish I could change, but I'd rather have this law than not."

Gruber, in 2012, on Americans' lack of understanding economics: "We just tax the insurance companies. They pass on higher prices that offsets the tax break we get -- it ends up being the same thing. It's a very clever, you know, basic exploitation of the lack of economic understanding of the American voter."

Gruber, in 2013, on Democrats' efforts to disguise a direct tax on people who purchase so-called Cadillac plans: "Then another Massachusetts hero, John Kerry ... came up with a great substitute idea. They said ... 'What if we instead just levied a 40 percent tax on the insurance companies that sell these terrible expensive Cadillac plans?' We said, 'Well, that's pretty much the same thing. But why does it matter?' 'You'll see.' And we proposed it, and that passed because the American voters are too stupid to understand the difference."

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in 2009, extolled his credentials: "I don't know if you have seen Jonathan Gruber of MIT's analysis of what the comparison is to the status quo versus what will happen in our bill for those who seek insurance within the exchange."

Then-Sen. Obama, in 2006, bragged about how he stole ideas from Jon Gruber: "You have already drawn some of the brightest minds from academia and policy circles, many of them I've stolen ideas from liberally. People ranging from Robert Gordon to ... Jon Gruber." In 2009, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called Gruber "one of the most respected economists in the world."

Today neither Pelosi nor Obama knows the economist from a fence post. Asked recently about Gruber, Pelosi said, "I don't know who he is." When asked about him, Obama shrugged and reduced Gruber to some guy who "was never on our staff": "The fact that an adviser who was never on our staff expressed an opinion that I completely disagree with in terms of the voters is not a reflection on the actual process that was run." According to Fox News, Gruber visited the Obama White House at least 19 times.

In deciding this key issue about state exchanges, the Supreme Court may throw the Gruber's own words right back at him -- and rule Obama's unilateral reinterpretation unlawful. Then even Pelosi will know Gruber's name.

Jurors: 'Riverside Man Should Be Put To Death For Murdering, Torching Ex In Front Of Her 6 Children'
    ...................................................................
    CBS Los Angeles ^ | November 21, 2014

Jurors decided the fate of a 41-year-old man Friday who murdered and lit his former girlfriend on fire in front of her children.

According to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, jurors decided Tyrone Harts, of Riverside, will be sentenced to death early next year ...

At the time of the murder, the children ranged in ages from six to 15-years-old.

On Feb. 21, 2011, Harts shot his former girlfriend, Brandi Morales, inside of her Moreno Valley home she shared with her six children.

Around 12:30 a.m., Morales’ two oldest children were woken up by their mother’s screams coming from the upstairs master bedroom. Police said the oldest boy grabbed a knife from the kitchen on his way to see what was wrong.

Once inside the room, the boy saw his mother being held down and Harts fired a handgun in his direction.

According to authorities, the shots woke up the four younger children, who saw their mother being lit on fire after checking to see what caused the noise, the district attorney’s office explained.

In an attempt to save her, the children filled cups with water to try and put out the fire.

When officers arrived to the scene, Morales was pronounced dead.

According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy revealed that she suffered from a gunshot wound to her torso, and had first and second-degree burns over about 60 percent of her body.

Officers explained on the night of the murder, Harts called the home and spoke to each of the children. He reportedly asked one to leave the sliding glass door unlocked.

Harts lived at the residence before the couple broke off their relationship, several weeks before the murder took place.

On Oct. 30, jurors convicted Harts of one count each of murder and attempted murder, five counts of felony child endangerment and one count of being a felon in possession of a handgun.

According to the district attorney, jurors found truth in the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait, which made him eligible for the death penalty.

They heard testimony during the penalty phase before deciding Harts should be sentenced to death.

Harts was ordered to return for a formal sentencing arraignment on Jan. 30, 2015.

Congressional Black Caucus Leader THREATENS Ferguson Grand Jury
    ............................................................................................................................
    November 22, 2014 by Charles C. Johnson
    gotnews.com

In an audio interview with WUNC, the new leader of the Congressional Black Caucus called for Darren Wilson to be indicted and prejudiced the Ferguson grand jury.

Former judge and new leader of the Congressional Black Caucus G. K. Butterfield called for the grand jury to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown and warned that there would be consequences if the jury “turn their back on justice.”

The Congressional Black Caucus is “laser-focused on Ferguson.”

Butterfield said. “I was a judge for 15 years… I would certainly hope the grand jury will find that there is sufficient evidence that a crime probably was committed… but if they turn their back on justice I am fearful that there will be pushback from those who are concerned about it and I am one of those…”

The controversial interview was scrubbed from the website.
